help: French Quarter or Caribbean Beach?

If you are staying in a preferred room you will not have a long walk. A preferred location is a great place to be. You might want to look at the CBR FAQ threads listed below. I also have a map that they give you at check in on my website.

at CBR a preferred room is the *only* way to go! i'm sure your children (and you!) will love it :)

I would say go to POFQ as it is smaller and easier to move around and really is a nice place to stay. You also get the added benefit of being able to use PORS facilities for swimming, eating at a sitdown rest, RS food court as well plus you get to attend Bob Jackson's family show in the Riverroost lounge. It isn't a far walk to come over from FQ to RS. Don't forget that you can catch the boat from both of these resorts to DTD which is just another added bonus.

Definitely French Quarter... we have stayed at both and we were very, very pleased with the French Quarter but were not impressed at all with CBR.

Maybe this is moving off-topic, but how about POFQ vs CSR? We've been to POFQ twice and are thinking of returning over Christmas this year. We were going to rent a villa, but due to the bizarre way prices work out here in the UK the flight only deal is nearly as expensive as flight + a moderate. [1]

So we're thinking that CSR might make a nice change from POFQ.

[1]Something to do with the fact that our 14-year old daughter is an "adult" on a flight-only deal, but a "child" on a flight+hotel deal

if your kids like the beach seen go with the CBR. granted they cant go in the lake but they can play on the beach. you can get a childrens dinner at the food court and it comes with a shovel and pail. we stayed there in 98 before our kids were in the picture and loved it. being from MA. we dont see that tropical setting so we loved it.

another vote for pofq.when we stayed at cbr we needed to get in the car and drive to the food court.Pofq was great,no long walks, quiet and great pool.

French Quarter is my favorite of all moderates, having tried them all. They all need to be tried once so you'll know what fits you best. You can't really go wrong with any of them. Have a great trip!

This thread is awesome I chose Port Orleans French Quarter because the look and feel fits my and FH's style best. It's great to know people that have been there loved it!! :goodvibes

Here's another vote for CBR.
Being from Jersey also it gives me two vacations in one Disney and a Tropical Resort.
If you get the preffered rooms you should be able to get everywhere with minimal walking.

Other than flipping a coin you have to chose what you like. Beach comber, boating, small buildings, smaller more private pools, big spread out resort chose CBR. If you like the old southern charm, smaller resort, big buildings (it's a lot like New Orleans but the buildings are freshly painted and the trash gets picked up every day) then chose Port Orleans French Quarter.

We have stayed at both resorts. We loved both resorts. The girls wanted to back to CBR, I would have chosen POFQ. I was out voted but that's ok because both resorts are great. You can't lose!

I appreciate all of the recommendations and it sounds like both resorts are terrific. After considering the various features and your comments, I booked POFQ. I think it was the praise for the transportation system which helped finalize my decision. Thanks so much!
