Help...found Birth Cert Problem

I did post this on other thread (no replies yet) and I'm in a panic here!! Hoping to find help......... Father-in-Law's Birth Cert is hospital issued. We leave this Thursday!!! Help please!!

Can any county clerk's office in the state of birth retrieve a certified copy of BC or do you have to go to the county of birth???? Wasn't sure if he could get it Fed-Ex before leaving. It would be a long trip to pick it put in person.

but also check with your local courthouse to see if that is necessary. Depending on state, county, etc, you may be able to get one easier locally.

I will have him check locally in the morning!! I checked out your website and looked like 5-10 days on delivery. Would cut it pretty short...Thanks for the site!!

He could drive one hour and be in his birth state but not he's birth county. 3 hour drive to birth county.
Good thing he wasn't born in California (nothing against it just too far away).

I just responded to your other post also.. Fed Ex is an option of 2-5 days in most cases... if you're leaving this Thursday, I'd call the office closest to you and ask what to do..

Most states have a department of vital statistics or vital records. Ours in Illinois is located here in Springfield.

I am assuming he doesn't live in Illinois. But if he does, just pm me and I'll pick it up for you and FedEx it to you.

He might have to fax request, but I think I can pick it up.

Thanks for all the help!!! We live in Illinois but birth place is Indiana just didn't know if we had to drive to county of birth to pick it up?? Terre Haute is very close and was just wondering if we could go to any county to retrieve certified copy. We will try locally first. If he has to, he can drive to pick it up. Nothing will stop us now....We sail on Sunday!!!!!!

Generally you can go to any county in the state of birth to get it. Sometimes it's the courthouse and sometimes you can go to any Health Department. Good luck.

Thanks to all!!!

He had a cousin that was able to go to birth county Health Department. She was unable to get a copy but they let her bring in an overnite envelope and of course pay for the copy. You have to be an immediate family member to have access. Cousin wasn't close enough, I guess?? They are mailing it directly to my father-in-law. It should be here this morning.....hopefully!!
