I am a grandparent, and when I took my DGD on DCL (3 times) twice I was asked for the 'permission' letter from the parent (notarized). Of the twice I was asked, once it was carefully read by the CM. Wouldn't leave home without it now!. Another time had DGD and a friend. I had the friends mom also give me a notarized letter for permission to have the child. We were in Orlando for a running event at Disney. When picking up the girls registration, we WERE asked for her permission letter.

Yes, I have heard of non-parents being asked for this letter. When I called DCL and spoke to them about this letter I was told if you are the parent of the child and your name is on their BC then they don't need the letter. I hope that made since!!! Anyone other then the childs parents NEED the letter.

TracyKim:
We are on the May 22 cruise with you. What my DD did on our cruise this past May was to have her son's father sign and get notorized the following form/statement:

I _____________ acknowledge and authorize that my son ________________

age ___yr____mo will be traveling with his mother _______________________

and maternal grandparents _______________________ and _______________

on a Disney Cruiseline Vacation to the Bahamas, departing on _(date of cruise).

He signed and had the form notarized. (He returned the form 2 days before we left after having it for 8 months.) She used my grandson's birth certificate as identification and that was all that was needed. My daughter was never asked for a notarized form from his father, but she had it just in case.
