One of my dearest friends is in a quandry. She is as much of a Disney fan as most people, but her husband is not. She recently emailed me and with her permission, I am posting her question here to get the opinions from the experts. I already told her to plan to go with out him, but she is not comfortable doing that. What do you all think?

"Unknown to Jonathan, I have saved enough money for another trip to WDW!! You know we went in 2002 and we really haven't discussed going back again before 2006... so how can I talk him into a 2005 trip? He does like Disney a lot, but not as much as me and the kids. Plus DD and I have that special short trip planned for next year to the Laura Ingalls Wilder Home, it will take up some of his vacation time if he decides to come along. So how do I convince him that we need to go again in 2005??? "

Can you all help her out?

What exactly is he saving his vacation time for? If it's for another trip that he's wanting to go on, I can understand saving the days. If it's so he will get paid for unused days or something similar, then she can make the argument that the family time together and memories they'll make are much more valuable than a little extra cash. It sounds like they do ok if she has saved enough for a WDW trip without him knowing about it!

Wish her luck for me!

Disney is great, but it may just not be his cup of tea. Maybe he wants to try something else this time. How about a cruise? DCL is wonderful. If you combine a short stay at the World and a short cruise, maybe he would be more enthusiastic about going. Maybe your friend couls also suggest doing something in Florida in addition to Disney - Universal, Cape Canaveral, etc.

Good luck to your friend.

OK - I'm going to pretend like I don't know who is really posting this question... :rolleyes1

I completely agree with "life is short" and "why put off to tomorrow what you can do today." (After all, what is today but yesterday's tomorrow...)

How old is DD? Maybe that can be used as persuasion to take her while she is still young enough to enjoy it!

My husband loves WDW as much, if not more than me. He's from a VERY frugal family, though and tends to worry about money. (Disney happens to be the only splurge)

Anyway, if your husband is at all like mine, finding out about this unknown windfall could completely change his mind!

In my opinion, you approach it with "We have the money early, let's go!" Moving the trip up a year, should not be that big of a concern, but I don't know all of the facts.

Also, I'd leave the other trip as a girls' trip. Completely justifiable and if it helps with saving vacation days...

Good luck!
