I'm a first timer on the board and we are planning a trip to Disney the first weekend in March! I'm looking for ANY information that anyone can give me.

-We are looking to stay at one of the moderate hotels at WDW - Anyone have any favorites?

-What is the best things to pack for this time of the year? We are in MI and it's normally only 15 degrees out so it'll be a nice change for us.

-We are going to do the meal plan and we wondering if any of you have favorite resturants on the meal plan that you recommend.

Any other tips would be great. I'm really excited and starting to become a little overwhelmed by it all!!!!

:) THANK YOU!! :)

I live nearby, so I can't really help too much with the hotels. The weather, however, I can advise you on. March is usually really mild weather here, cool in the evenings (when I say cool I mean maybe in the 50's, probably more like the 60's) and 70's during the day. It will probably rain. You will definitely want ponchos, which you can buy in the parks, but may want to get ahead of time for less money. A light jacket for everyone would probably also be a good idea. And whatever you do, don't buy new shoes. Wear the oldest, most comfortable pair you have.

Have fun on your trip! DIS is the best website for planning tips!

I agree, shorts etc. for the day and pants and sweatshirts for the evening.
:thumbsup2

We have gone in March several times now and we like it! Lines are not as long. We like the mod, POR, but their food court area is closed this coming March and we're trying out the Family Suites at ALL STAR MUSIC. We have 5 in our family.
We have had varied March weather ... one year we got to a Water Park, and we have enjoyed the pools - more one year than the next ... weather varies! Last March I wore crop pants with short sleeves and a sweater/light jacket in the mornings ... I wore shorts on the warmer days ... but we've had nights where sweatpants/jeans were pulled out!
We like Prime Time Diner, Le Cellier, Ohanas, Whispering Canyon, Teppanyaki (closed for this March), the Castle, Kona, Boatwrights, Chef Mickey's, Concourse, and we're trying out Liberty Tree Tavern Character meal this March. Good luck and have fine ... we're headed there the following week it looks like!

My advice would be to go to the resorts board and take a look at photos of each of the moderates to get an idea of what they look like. We stayed at OKW for one nite on our first trip to WDW and the room was nice. Both OKW and PO rooms are slightly larger than rooms at some of the other resorts. As far as dining goes, most of the food at the world is surprisingly good. Once again, I'd check out the Dining boards and maybe even read some of the menus for some of the restaurants. It's my experience on the DIS that for every two good reviews of a hotel or restaurant, there will be one negative review. Alot of it depends on personal taste, some people go on a trip and everything goes wrong, and then there are those that are touched by fairy dust and have the trip of a lifetime. Do your planning, make ressies for those meals you really must do, and be flexible if things don't work out as planned. After all, you are on vacation at a fabulous place and it's hard to not have a great time. If you don't get all your questions answered here on the DIS, also try All Ears or Mouse Ears. They are also helpful websites for planning.
