Hi all,

I have a dilemma about my last day at Walt Disney World, I hope someone on the boards can give me good advice.

Me and my DS 10 are coming into the World on May 6th landing at 8:40am and staying until May 9th leaving at 4:20pm from the All-Star Movies (being picked up by a Towncar)

We have 4-day tickets, as well as water park passes from years ago that never expired.

Our first day Sunday we are going to Hollywood Studios, Monday to Epcot and Tuesday to Magic Kingdom.

My dilemma is what to do the last day, I like going to MK on the last day so that’s the last thing I see before I go back to the “real” world

OPTION 1
We thought of going to MK for a couple of hours and then Typhoon Lagoon for a few hours then head back to the hotel.

OPTION 2
My son really wants to go to AK, but I don’t love that park, to me, it’s not “Disney” enough for me and it has an EMH that day.

OPTION 3
Just go to MK for the day and leave at 3:00pm and head pack to hotel.

OPTION 4
Add the park hopper option to my tickets, and park hop to AK on one of the days

My son has never been to either TL or AK but I’m worried we won’t have enough time for either of thses options except # 3

HELLLLLP!!!

Thanks in advance for everyone’s help

Nathan

normally I am all for extra MK time, but you really need to get your son to AK. It would be better if you had FOP fast passes though.

If you can afford the park hopper, I'd add it and here's what I THINK I would do:

Leave Sun and Mon the way they are
Tues waterpark in the morning and MK from early afternoon to closing
Wed get up EARLY and get to AK by 7:00 a.m. YOU WANT To DO FLIGHT OF PASSAGE. Trust me. It is the best ride in all of WDW, but you need to be AT THE GATE at least 45 min before the EMH begins so you're at the front of the crowd heading there. Once you're off FoP, do the Safari and anything else DS wants to do, then head over to MK until you need to get back to the hotel.

I can understand wanting MK to be your final vision of WDW before heading home....but I would consider going to AK. Can you get FP+ for EE (my boys love that roller coaster!) and the safari at this point? ( I figure too late for FOP without a lot of effort/same day refreshing.) If wandering around doesn't appeal to you, plan to watch FOTLK and perhaps a scheduled extra like the Caring for Giants tour. You could also plan for a character breakfast or lunch at TH. I know EMH can make for more crowds and it already isn't your favorite park....but some FP+ and scheduling a TS meal for when crowds will be building can mean a good enough day for you and an opportunity for DS to check out AK.

I wouldn’t try a water park at all the last day ( and certainly not in combination with a park ) because changing out of wet bathing suits takes time and then you have to pack wet suits. Go to AK instead of MK on Tuesday and take a midday break to Blizzard Beach that day. Or get hoppers, skip the water park, and hop between MK and AK that day. FoP is not to be missed, and besides, your ten year old wants to go to AK and he will only be ten once. On your last day get to MK at rope drop and be at the bus stop no later than 3:00. I would actually want more time than that because I once waited 45 minutes for a bus from MK. Also, it takes time to retrieve bags from bell services ( sometimes there is a line ), I’d want a restroom break before getting in the town car, etc.

They will open AK 45 minutes before scheduled EMH, so you really have to be at the AK gate about 70 minutes before EMH for best results.

I would get PH and do AK in the morning of the third day, and do MK in he afternoon of course he 3rd day and on your last day. I would do Pandora at RD (be there at least 1 hour early) the EE and rhe safari. If he is really interested in Dinosaur I would do that as well.

I’d do AK for sure, even if you can’t do the FOP, we were there in February and my 10 yo DS did Expedition Everest and Dinosaur, loved both! And the safari!

We did the River Journey in Pandora for our FP+ because our youngest wasn’t tall enough for the other.

Good luck!!

It's your son's vacation too, why not do what he wants to do?

Don't let him miss AK. When did you last visit? It's changed A LOT over the past 2 years and IMO, a do-not-skip park. I'd skip HS if I could only do 3 parks.

Is your first day an arrival day? Like you're arriving and going to Hollywood Studios that day?

If it isn't your arrival day, and your HS day is a full day, I would split that day with the water park. You can FP three of the four rides there... and do TSM at RD or park close (depending on how you split your time) if you really want to get that one in.

Then do AK on your last day. I wouldn't mess with park hopping.

HS is on arrival day, that’s why I do HS on that day because I know it’s not a full day park. We also both love ToT and RnR

We are doing DHS on our arrival day for the same reason!
Then I'd probably do AK on the last day, and either save the water park tickets for another trip, if they're non-expiring. Or work the water parks in on either your MK or Epcot day. We like to take afternoon breaks. We usually swim at the resort, so I don't know how much of a hassle it is to head to a water park instead.
AK is pretty fun-- I don't think you'll be disappointed to end your trip there.
