Okay guys I need some help, I scheduled our vacation before checking the football schedule for this fall (most people probably don't have to worry about that). I booked our vacation for Sept 27 - Oct 4. The problem is that Notre Dame plays Purdue on Saturday Oct 1........this poses a problem as my boyfriend is a ND fanatic!! Now I gave him the dates that I was going to book before I did it and he didn't even think about the game so I went ahead and booked, he laughs now because he thinks it's funny that he's going to be in Disney World while the "biggest game of the year" is going on :rotfl2:

The game is going to be shown on ESPN, my question is where, besides our room, can we watch this game in a bar type atmosphere? I know the Wide World of Sports will have it on but do the buses go there??

Any ideas or suggestions would be really appreciated. :Pinkbounc :bounce:

I've never been there but at the Boardwalk Inn there is the ESPN Club. I bet you would be able to watch the game there.

We had to go to ESPN so that DH wouldn't miss a Jet's game -- Get their early - but you can watch the games... and eat and drink...

I know on Sundays even locals head over there for games - not sure about college - but just give yourself some time to "cushion" before the game starts -

Good luck!

Yes the ESPN restaurant would be a great place to watch the game. We are huge Marshall fans and planned our vacation when Marshall was playing in a bowl game. We watched the game at ESPN. It was great. My advice would be to watch the game from there, but to get there early because it does get crowded with people wanting to watch the games. We were there on New Years, so it was really crowded, but I still would go a little early because I wouldn't want to risk not getting a table.

The ESPN Club is a great place to watch the game or really, games on all the TV's. You might want to make sure that the Florida / Florida State game is not the same weekend. DW and I tried to get in to just check scores a few years ago and it was packed with local fans. If the line for a table is long, check to see if there are any open spots at the bar as that is first come first serve. We normally have one person wait in line while the other checks out the bar scene. Bonus is that they have a pretty descent menu as well and plenty of adult beverages.

Good Luck

Definitely get to the ESPN club early. Saturday's and Sunday's in FB season are very busy as are the playoff times during BaseBall season. But it's a blast. I would highly recommend going.

TSK TSK TSK!!!! What a major Faux pas
You BF may be "laughing" on the outside...but "inside" there is turmoil !!!! :rotfl:

ESPN ZONE! GO FIGHTING IRISH!!!!!!!! :bounce:

FYI....the ESPN club is a short walk from the Boardwalk Inn. As you face the Boardwalk Inn just walk left away from the hotel. It is the last building on the walkway that continues on to Epcot.

This may be a good year to miss the ND-Purdue game! I hear Purdue is going to be good.

As a Purdue grad, just let your boyfriend know that Notre Dame doesn't have a chance, so no need to watch the game. He can catch the loss on replay.

Thanks everyone for your great ideas, and thanks for the directions wdwgoofeeee.....I was reading these posts wondering where it was located :goodvibes

We both actually work at Purdue University, I'm not a football maniac like some......but it makes it interesting working here and having a boyfriend that works here and has ND stuff hanging all over his cubicle :p

Purdue is going to be a good team this year, they have a lot of returning people that didn't graduate last year, should make the game watching even more fun :scratchin

Okay... @ ESPN club you may not get your preferred audio feed. There's only one audio at a time. At WWoS you can get your own audio.

Fla/Fla St. is never at the beginning of October. No worries there.

If you go here Week 5 Schedule you can check out the other games for the day. Not all have start times set yet though.

Other, potentially, big games that day...
Mississippi at Tennessee
USC at Arizona State
Washington at UCLA
Virginia Tech at West Virginia
Virginia at Maryland
Washington State at Oregon State
Minnesota at Penn State
Florida at Alabama
LSU at Mississippi St.
South Carolina at Auburn
Oregon at Stanford
Arizona at California
Michigan at Michigan State

Ahhhh, the awesome tradition of Notre Dame! Go IRISH.

Purdue, Purdue, where the men are men and the women are too!!!!

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: OK, don't go crazy, but I couldn't resist........."you drew first blood!!" You're right, ND is in trouble this year.

Don't even think about going to the ESPN Club to watch a college football game. It is a zoo on Fall Saturdays. I suggest just watching it on tv in your room, although the teams may not be good enough to get national coverage. I have heard of Purdue but not that other team.

You could watch the game at Victoria Falls at Animal Kingdom Lodge, it's a nice lounge with a few TV's and they'll put the game on for you. If you do that check on the hours versus what time the game is on. Some of the other resorts may have a lounge and tv for viewing.

I'm sorry, but I refuse to help any ND fan. Talk about your safety schools...wait, nevermind...you have to actually be good to be a safety school. :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

(Proud BC Alum here :goodvibes )

I would like to point out that I, at least, actually tried to help! :teeth:

I'll try to keep thinking about another bar atmosphere location.

If you decide to go to WWoS, eat somewhere else before you go! The food there is HORRIBLE!!! And gawd forbid that it be a late game because the WWoS locks their doors and turns off the TVs at 9pm. Pretty inconvenient when the Alamo Bowl started at 8. We ended up watching the rest at the pool bar at Pop Century.

Sorry I can't help, but I can empathize. We are planning a trip next October but we can't set the dates until the 2006 Virginia Tech schedule comes out!

One other poster mentioned that you may not be able to hear the game at EPSN zone. I think that's something you should definitely take into consideration if you DBF is a huge fan. I think my DH would rather order food in so that he could hear the commenators!

Good Luck!

Do the resort buses run to WWOS?? Well I guess it doesn't matter anyway as the game starts at 6:30 so if they close the doors on us and kick us out I will have one MAD Bf on my hands!!! That could ruin a vacation folks :rotfl2:

These are great suggestions :teeth: I didn't mean to cause a big ND/Purdue battle though

I appreciate all the help I can get Ophie :teeth: If you think of anything else just let me know.
