HELP! flash drive files

I deleted something from my flash drive after being assured it was no longer needed. Guess what, now it is needed again. Is there any way to get it back?
Somebody please help.

I've used recuva successfully for my son's SD card.

before you over think it-did you empty the recycle bin on the computer it was attached to when you deleted it? if not its there there-in the recycle bin.

I'm not sure that this is true for external devices like a thumbdrive.

I have alredy checked the recycle bin. They are not there.
