Help! First timer at adding cash stays...

We are staying at SSR for the beginning of our trip in February on points but would like to book the last few nights with cash. Do we call MS for a DVC discount? How early do they offer this to members? Can we stay at any DVC resort or are we limited? (We'd love to try anything really!) We'd like a studio, at this point it's all we need, are they available at a discount?

I booked my first cash stay last week using the DVC discount. Yes, you do need to call MS if you are hoping for the discount. I was hoping for a 2 BR, but was not able to get one with the discount. I was able to book 2 studios instead at BWV at 25% off the rack rate. This trip is for Easter week, so I was actually surprised when I was told the discount was available. I have a third studio booked on points, and the CM linked the reservations together so we would hopefully be close by.

MS can only make you reservations on DVC resorts. If you want to reserve a non-DVC resort, you'll have to go through CRO and there is no DVC discount on those resorts. Plus the DVC discount is not always available.
