My husband and I have begun a new tradition of spending Christmas at WDW. Since I am a teacher, I have a dependable set of dates off each year, which is GREAT, but it also means that our vacation takes place during the more expensive holiday season. In the past, I have always been able to find bargains on off-site lodging. This year we really want to stay on Dis property(9 nights)...my strategy so far is to leave a day early and begin our vacation on 12/19, when it is still value season. We can get WL for 199/night as of right now, with a possible AP discount later, or we can get the 129/night teacher rate at the Swan. Which do I choose?? We have always wanted to stay at the WL, but cost is a factor; Swan location is really great, but maybe not as "magical." Which would you choose??

You can't lose with WL- we were there last Christmas- it is so beautiful!!!! Don't know for sure- but maybe you could look into renting points at one of the DVC's- they're deluxe and absolutely beautiful- and WL has one as well.

I have not stayed at either the WL or the Swan and realize that WL is a favorite for many folks, I would pick the Swan for the location. It's perfect for 2 adults or even for families. We have stayed many times at BWV and it's our favorite area. You can walk to 2 parks and there are many, many dining places to chose from and they are all just a short walk away. You won't get Mickey soaps, etc. but for me, the "magic" would be the great location. Not to mention, a savings of $70 per night. Just MHO.

We are just back from the Swan and it was pretty magical all on its own. The location can't be beat-an easy walk to Epcot, the Boardwalk attractions or the restaurants at the Yacht Club. I liked the "Heavenly Beds", too. I think it depends a lot on how much time you will be spending in your hotel vs. the parks. For us, being able to walk instead of waiting for transport was really nice. However! The WL is supposed to be a great experience in itself! You could book them both and wait for further codes and discounts.....

Absolutely love the WL, especially at xmas. Think about curling up in front of one of the fireplaces and looking at the huge xmas tree in the lobby. It is wonderful and the transportation is good.

Thanks for all of the advice. I am tallying votes...hmm...Why is it that after DAYS of weighing pros and cons, I am not much closer to a decision? lol I am way too excited about a vacation that is still 10 months away! Sis says I have "crossed over to the Cult of the Mouse." So be it.
