DD17 has asked for a recipe book w/her favorites in it as one of her Christmas or bday gifts. I want to find one with rings so that she can add/rearrange pages as needed.

I have looked around online and am trying to keep it budget. Does anyone have any good sites or B&M stores where I can find one that would be cute for a college student?

I wasn't sure if someplace like Michael's or Hobby Lobby carry them & thought I'd ask here before I make the trips around trying to find something. Any help is greatly appreciated!

This one is cute - and holds 8.5 x 11" paper.

It is in the low 20's.

One thing I would HIGHLY, HIGHLY recommend is to get her a pack of page protectors. Then when if something spills on a recipe - it can be wiped off easily!

I do not think Michaels would have something like this. Sorry I do not hang out by Hobby Lobby, since I don't pass one regularly.

I'm going to just use a photo album with page protectors to make my daughter one with family recipes for christmas.

Not sure if you have a Costco around you but they had some really nice ones where there books are today.

I've seen them before at Costco and Barne's & Noble and Hallmark. But at a bridal shower recently I saw the most beautiful one, it was professionally printed and bound and you can even add your own photos. I plan to make my own one day from my recipes that I have written out. The website is www.tastebook.com, the prices are pretty reasonable and you can always add pages later on. This may be a little nicer than what you're looking for, but I thought it was such a great idea and it really was so nice in person.

I got one at Costco awhile back. It had some page protectors, blank pages, pages to write recipes on, a section with pockets to place recipes and organize by type, and at the beginning it had cooking definitions, how much of something equals something else, substitutions, checking for doneness--everything a new cook might want to know. And it was a 3-ring binder.

Hallmark has so many cute ones! They are the binder type. You can buy additional pages and cards too. I have a dessert recipe book and one for everything else from hallmark.

oh man! I was just looking for one for a wedding gift! I ended up buying a 6'x9' notebook from Staples,it's plastic, with plastic sleeves on the outside, and I slipped fancy craft paper in the outside pockets so it looks really nice, and bought 5'x7' notebook looseleaf paper to fill out, plus some 5x7 plastic pockets and nice dividers it cost me around 5.00 total and looks really nice- I couldn't find heavier paper for it,wish I had,but too late,I sent it out to relatives for filling out already..... I have one my mom made me when I got married and I really love it!

I saw some in the mail order catalog "ABC". They were pretty cute. I did see some at one of the craft stores just yesterday but I do not remember which one. We were in ACMoore, Micheal's, and a couple more.

A few years ago my Mom decided to type up her favorite recipes.

She typed them, printed them out on plain paper and we took it to Office Depot and they copied them on nice paper that we chose and then bound them with a plastic cover on the front and back.

It was less than $10 for each book. She gave them to us for Christmas.

I have several that I've just done with plain three ring binders. I have a ton of recipes from the newspaper or copies of recipes givento me by a co-worker or friends. I also have a bunch of photocopied recipes from my mom's and grandma's cookbooks that I made when I was first married. I will agree with the pp who said to put recipes in plastic protectors. It has saved me so many times.

I did buy a nicer one at Hallmark a few years ago. My plan is that I am going to put my all time favorites in that one to condense my huge collection of recipes.

I do like the ideas that other's have given. I would love to do a "family" cookbook for my kids and my nieces to have someday.

I think mine came from one of the gift catalogs: Lillian Vernon or Lakeside Collection or something like that, maybe even a school fundraiser. My MIL bought it and gave it to my mom to fill with recipes. (My MIL didn't cook but my mom does!) So it was kind of a combo gift from "The Moms". One thing that has been a major help is mom put a conversion guide in it, along with a list of substitutions that has been so handy. So when you put your daughter's together, add those things too!

Thanks for all of the great suggestions!! I think I'm going to get a scrapbook or photo book w/a 40% off coupon at Hobby Lobby or Michaels. Then I can add cute scrapbook paper in colors that she likes & put the pages in protectors.

If I feel really crafty, I'll cover a binder w/cute fabric & spray protector on it and add some ribbon. Thanks, I've gotten some good ideas here!

I bought a Paula Dean one at Michaels for 70% off last week. Even if you used a different cover/binder it did have labeled dividers. I got some at Marshall's last Christmas. I gave them as teacher's gifts so they were not very expensive.

I was going to say this too. I got the Paula Deen one at Michaels too. It was on clearance. I also got some recipe cards on clearance too. I don't think they were Paula Deen, but they fit in the slots. I bought these for my DD who just got an apartment at college. I plan to give it to her for Christmas.
