Help figuring out resort stay and LLMP

Hi all, I have a stay this upcoming week 12/26/-1/2/26 and then I have family coming 12/28-1/1 in another resort reservation. I did not think about this with booking LLMP. I can book my LLMP 12/19 and I can't book theirs until 12/21, but I want to book all of us for LLMP at same time so we all have same times. If I book a studio at SSR 12/26-12/27 for them as essentially a throwaway room, will it let me book 7 days out so I can book us all at once? The gap day would be 12/27-12/28 where they have no resort ressie. There is a studio open for that night that I can book, but I don't want to book it and then this plan doesn't work and my points go into holding. Hope this makes sense!

Do their tickets begin on the 26th? I believe that not only do you have to have the room but a ticket as well with that start date. even if they don’t want to use it that day.

But, if the ticket they have doesn’t begin until the 28th, you may have trouble.

I know I have booked over a split stay but no gap and has an AP.

Their tickets start 12/28. I would only be booking their LLMP and LLSP for dates starting 12/28-1/1 though. I thought LLMP was linked to resort reservation, but I could be wrong. This is only the 2nd time I've done the big group with different dates of check in since they started LLMP.

It is tied to a resort to unlock the 7 days but they need eligible tickets too.

So, if they don’t have tickets that can start on the 26th, even if they don’t want LL until the 28th, I don’t think it’s going to work.

It is why the cancellation for a room only with WDW moved from 5 days to 8 days.

To prevent someone from holding a room to get those booked earlier when staying offsite.

You should probably plan to book any LL you want without them the first couple days (before they arrive), on 12/19. Then if it's important to coordinate the LLs once they arrive, book the remaining LLs for the entire group the morning of 12/21. You could also try booking all of the dates for you on 12/19, and then see if you can fit the rest of your group close to those times starting 12/21. The modify feature works really well, but it might add a layer of anxiety you don't need to deal with a week from your vacation! The bogus reservation is likely not going to work. In fact, it's very possible the studio reservation you saw a bit ago is already gone - that's such a popular week (not to mention the points going to holding could be a pain). Good luck with your planning - hope you get the LLs you want with the entire group once they are eligible!

I just thought of another thing. When I was booking for my group of 5, I found that at times I could do 3 and 2 to get better times and just have the overlap..ie: 10:45 and 10;55…we all went on at 11 am!

Keep that in mind too!!

The 7-day resort booking is for length of stay. A break in dates will not work. If you book the single night it would only allow you to book check-in and check-out day for them 7-days in advance. You would need to book two nights to have the same trip length to book all dates at the same time.

What is your room occupancy and how many guests are in the second party? Could you add them all to your DVC room?

Good point! Thanks

Thanks. Unfortunately, it would be 10 people. All rooms look like they only hold 9. I would need to add my other 4 guests. We are 2BR at RIV most of the trip and one night at SSR on 12/26

I'm not sure this is accurate. We went last year at Christmas and didn't have APs at the time so had booked 8 day park hopper tickets that were valid starting 12/28. Our resort stay started 12/27 and we were able to do lightning lanes on 12/20. Now, we could not buy lightning lanes for 12/27 since we didn't have tickets, but we were able to do all days we had tickets for.

Oh this is interesting! I guess that makes sense though because my ticket doesn't start until 12/27 and it's allowing me to book ON 12/19 per the MDE app. Hmmm. My only issue is that my stay is broken up by 1 night stay and then a 6 night stay so that's the only part the concerns me. I just looked and there is a Jambo studio available for 23 points 12/26-12/27. I'm willing to burn those to save my sanity, I just don't know if because the reservation is broken up into two parts if I will still not be able to book out 7 days tomorrow

As long as the stays are consecutive the Lightning Lane system sees it as one continuous stay, it is different from dining. We had a 3 way split last Christmas for the 8 days, and like I said, we could book the entire stay.
