Still plotting our last night: Anyone stayed at the Hyatt Grand Cypress: Is the pool worth it?

Or the new Ritz or Marriott??

Please, any info would be appreciated.

Thanks

Hi Kakiax,

I will be leaving for the Hyatt Grand Cypress this Tuesday for 5 nights with my husband and son. I have never been there but from all I have heard and read this place is really grand. Great pool,
lake and very nice setting. We are going for a conference my husband has to attend but from all my research this is a great place to hang around at. Lots of activities. We just got back from a one week trip to Universal last month so we wont be doing the
parks and this seems like great resort to kick back at with plenty for the kids to do. I will let you know how I make out.

Haven't stayed at either, but we were planning on doing 4 nights at HRGC next January. However, we got a great rate of $173 per night for the Ritz-Carlton, so we've booked that instead. The lure of being amongst the first to stay at such a superb resort was just too great!

I remember being out at the site for the Marriott/Ritz-Carlton on September 9, 2001. We were on the way out to the airport coming from a convention. I remember distinctively it wasn't near anything, it was just a big mud pit at the time. It's about a 10 minute drive out to I-4, near Sea World. This is a huge, multi-million resort, built to NOT compete with US/WDW. It caters NOT to lower income folks, that's for sure.

and WDW deluxe resort do - sorry - I don't think I will ever pay $325 for a garden view - Polyn....

however this is a great rate for the Ritz - where did you find it?

Grand Cypress beats the Marriott and Ritz. Even though the Marriott and Ritz have a river pool, the cave pools, atmosphere, lake, game room, store, etc. at Grand Cypress beats it. There truly is no comparison. Marriott and Ritz are not near any of the attractions. With Grand Cypress you can at least walk to some stores and restaurants if you need to.
