I have a picture that I took several years ago that my mother loves and always asks me about. Is there someplace I can send the print where they will photoshop it and let me know how large of a print I can make from it?
Sorry...total novice here, just trying to make my mom happy for christmas!!

There is a formula. Inches x DPI = pixels

To get a general idea of how large a print you can make look at the pixel dimensions of your file. Then you want to divide by your print resolution. This is usually 240-300 DPI. So divide by 240 and that will give you the measurements in inches for generally the largest size you can make a photo print of that file before it starts getting pixelated.

Now, there are ways to go larger with software. And some printing processes can let you get away with a much lower print resolution (an example is banners that use 150 DPI). My suggestion is if you want to go a lot larger than your pixel dimensions will allow then go to a professional print lab in person. They can usually rez the file up for you with very little quality loss.
