Hi, I just listed my very first item and I still don't really understand everything. I have been reading over the FAQs but it is very long. I can't figure out how to get paypal listed on my auctions. all I want is the regular account, which I have signed up for and just want to accept money transfers. I do not want to accept credit cards. i have been looking on paypal but all I see is how you add the ones for acceting credit cards.

I would really appreciate if someone could help me out with this. Alos, is accepting cashier's checks and money orders the same? What do all of you accept as forms of payments.

Thanks, please help!!

Well, if you aren't going to accept credit cards, I wouldn't put a check mark next to the box that says you accept paypal. Ebay doesn't give you the option of taking the credit card symbol off. If you check that, people are going to assume you accept credit cards. It doesn't matter how many times you list it in your description that you don't accept them. I'm not sure the difference between a cashier's check and money order. I accept money orders and paypal only. I do accept credit cards. When I first started I didn't, and I found it was much easier, and it was much more profitable to accept them.

A cashiers check is a check that you get from a bank. You present cash to the teller and he/she issues a check to whomever you want it made out to for the amount you specify.

I agree with not putting paypal in your auctions if you aren't going to take credit cards. I started out not taking credit cards with paypal but eventually changed. It wasn't worth it to me anymore to explain over and over again how to do a paypal transfer.
I also think that my auctions get more buyers because I do accept all forms of paypal payments. Just something to consider if you are going to do a lot of ebay selling. :)

Thanks everyone for the info. I am new to selling and feel like there is just so much to know. It seems to be so confusing at times. Thanks for your help.

I became a huge PayPal convert, and I strongly urge you to give it a try. I remember the old days of Ebay, when I was primarily a buyer (I collect comedy/tragedy masks, and I've filled three walls from Ebay). Every time I mailed out a money order, I crossed my fingers and hoped the buyer was honest (happily, they all were). I use PayPal for my DCL CD and Kissimme package, and out of dozens and dozens of people who have ordered it, I can count on one hand the number who have used a money transfer vs. charge card. Most people want to use that Visa or Mastercard. If you don't make it an option, you'll be cutting yourself off from a large population of potential buyers.
I still consider myself a novice seller, but I found it nice and easy to add the Paypal buttons.
Good luck on Ebay!
