I have heard there are dates when the cheer squads descend en masse to the all star restorts for various conventions and competitions.

Does anyone know of any such conventions (or other conventions that include multitudes of noisy young people) during the first part of October?

I'm stuck anyway, but it would help to go prepared!

Thanks!

I know they are there in December. I'm not sure if any groups are there in October.

Not sure about October, but REAL cheerleaders don't use Poms anymore!!! ;) :scared1: :hyper:

i know the ones in our town go down in february for the national high school championships.

We will be there March 2006 for the UCA Nationals. I know there are also competitions in Feb as well. There are also the dance competions that compete at WDW. Pop Warner is in Dec, not sure of the dates. The groups don't just stay at the All Stars, they stay also have packages available at the CBR. We will be staying at the Boardwalk Villas. Another Diser said something about a competion in March, they are at the Swan/Dolphin. WE'RE EVERYWHERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :cheer2:

There were some cheerleaders at the ASMo when we were there this past Feb. They were fine though. Not at all disruptive or disrespectful or loud. There were a ton of them too so I wouldn't have been surprised if they had been loud or something, but really it was not a problem at all.

The cheerleaders have been there during March trips we've taken, but besides being loud they were well behaved. We had several negative encounters (line jumping, food fights, bad language) with large teen groups from South America earlier this month though.

No offense intended. I used to coach cheerleading. But I also remember sitting in the hallway at night so the cheerleaders wouldn't try to escape the rooms and meet up with some hot guys they met.

I also remember tense practices late at night and early in the a.m. when someone got switched out due to injury. As much as I enjoyed them, I would not want to be a guest staying at a hotel where cheerleaders are preparing for competition.

It sounds like October is pretty safe, though. Thanks for the info. Now I'm wondering about the brazilians, anyone know what time of year they show up?

We've been at WDW a few times when there were chearleading groups there--never had any problems. WDW is so large that groups kind of get "swallowed up" and you hardly notice them. Actually I've never had any problems with people at WDW, despite the periodic negative threads you find on the DISboards (and we've been gone about a dozen weekends in the last 2 years).

The brazilian groups are there mostly in July. I've never encountered them in months other than July, and after several situations with them, I wouldn't want to.

There were several threads on cheer leading on these boards. We have had nothing but negative encouters with these groups They would practice EVERYWHERE! the worst were on the buses, They would scream, yell, cheer, whatever you want to call it at the top of their lungs, which others on the buses found annoying, and the parents or chaperones did nothing to quell them. They would also be very pushy on lines and they would cheer there as well. And I have heard some horror stories about things that went on at the All Star Sports resort, which seemed to be a favorite place for these groups to stay.
Are you getting the impression that I was not happy with these groups? Well you are correct sir! Hi yo!

This is my only real issue as well.

It's not cool for me and my family to stand outside of the rooms at 6AM screaming at the top of our lungs waking up everyone in the resort, so I never get why it's tolerated in organized groups. :confused3

This is why I stay at Pop. Many fewer groups go here - unless they are overflow from another resort.

I take that back...when I was there in May, the National Geriatric Association was there. :)

But that's the type of group I don't mind...hehe.
