Sorry I didn't post the details sooner, but I only had a second to post that she said yes, and then I was gone all day yesterday at her neighbor's wedding/ reception. Thanks everyone for the congrats!
Anyway, here are the apparently much anticipated details!!!!!
Well, of course I was a bit nervous (ok fine, I was completely nervous...I knew she would say yes, but I'm a more reserved...to myself type of guy). I first said to her, "I just remembered I had all of these fan made Disney DVDs, want to watch some?" So we did; we watched a few of the ride throughs of some of the rides and then I said "Oh, look, there's Wishes!" I started it up and I don't know how, but I timed it almost perfectly (I wanted to ask her towards the finale of the show). So, watching the firework show I don't think I said one word...had to put my hands under the pillow on the couch (where the ring was hidden by the way) because they were starting to shake a little, and while watching, was trying to think of what I wanted to say. Well, I finally just said to myself, "Swallow your pride and your intorverted attitude and just make her dreams come true." So from what I can remember, I said something to the effect of "I really wish we could be there right now." As to which she replied "Me too!" Then I said "I wonder if Disney can make long distance wishes and dreams come true." I was thinking that would be a rhetorical question, but she said "I doubt it." Me, being surprised by that answer (she's a fan of Disney, but not as much of a nut as I am), I decided that I'm just going to go down and ask without even thinking twice about what to say. From this point on it is all very unclear. I just remember saying "Well maybe they can make my wish and my dreams come true." And that's when I showed her the ring and I asked her. She was stunned, shocked, and whatever else you can say to describe it. She started crying immediately (still no yes at this point) and put her head into my shoulder. I then said "I take it that's a yes?" And she started laughing while she was crying and shook her head yes. For the next two hours she was calling everyone she knew and telling the story (or what she thought happened since we both didn't really remember it) and letting everyone know we were FINALLY engaged (lol I say finally as if we've been together for 20 years...we've been together for 6 and I'm only 22 lol). So that's that. The wedding won't be for at least two years...have to have some time to finalize getting the degree and getting a job that would allow me to provide for her and be able to afford having a family, but rest assured, it will be a DISNEY WEDDING!
Again, thanks to everyone who has helped along the way, whether it be from advice, ideas, suggestions, or just general wishing of good luck and congrats, I truly thank each and every one of you from the bottom of my heart. Unfortunately, the next chapter in this book won't be written for a while, but when the time comes to start the planning, I know who to let in on it!!! Thanks everyone!
