I am trying to decide whether we can do what we want in one day at Universal or if we should plan two days. This will be after 5 days at Disney. We are mostly interested in Harry Potter and Minions and maybe Dr. Seuss. We have two girls ages 9 and almost 7 at the time of the trip. We are staying at Boardwalk. We are thinking of using a taxi or renting a car for those two days.

I know we will be tired but the end of the trip so I was thinking two days. I know how to handle the heat at WDW, what do you do at Universal? Is most everything inside or outside? I have one member of my party that does awful in the heat. Our trip is in June.

Thanks!

Early June or late June? That will make a difference in crowds. Can you stay at Universal for those days or are you DVC? Staying onsite at one of the deluxes will give you unlimited express pass access for most of the rides except Forbidden Journey, Gringotts, Pteranadon Flyers and Kang and Kodas. That makes a HUGE difference when it comes to managing the heat. Also, you can easily get back to your hotel in 5 minutes to cool down.

Most of the rides and queues are indoors but there are a few that are outdoors.

June 8-9. We are staying DVC the whole time

Crowds should still be pretty good June 8-9 unless Kong has opened. There are some great water rides at the parks to keep you cool. There is also a fantastic water play area over at Universal Studios in kidzone. It will definitely cool you off.

Diagon Alley, because of its design, is cooler than the rest of the parks. Take advantage of that area and, of course, Knockturn Alley to do some cooling off.

If you want to do all the Potter stuff, Minions, and Dr. Seuss then you should plan on visiting both Universal and IOA. IMO, you'll need two days to really experience both parks. Especially if you plan to take breaks to combat the heat. If you only do one day, I'd highly recommend getting express pass - whenever we are pressed for time, this definitely helps us get through attractions faster whether or not overall crowds are heavy.

Definitely agree.

Do the 2 days, you won't regret it.

Universal has plenty of places in both parks to shade from the heat........plenty of shops and places to rest for a while.......there are lots indoors. Having EP would be a bonus especially if you have someone who doesn't cope well with heat.

Could you share some spots to rest and grab some a/c? I'm a little nervous about visiting Orlando in the summer.

Don`t be nervous.

Common sense makes it workable. Drink plenty of water......even if you don`t feel thirsty. Most of the ride queues take you inside at some point and the ones that don`t like RRR for example have huge mister fans blowing on you.......it does help.

In The Studios we sit and chill out in the Gardens of Allah and there are shady areas with trees around there too. Usually quite quiet. Sit in the umbrella covered seats all around different areas and have a drink.......Moe`s Tavern is huge to sit and have a break in.

Both Potter areas have plenty places that are cool......3 Broomsticks/Hogshead pub and there are seats at the back outside with parasols for shade. The owlry is shaded and cool........JP has shady areas.........water rides will definitely cool you down!!

You have all the eating places you can pop into and all the shops are freezing.....nice to wander through.....

Have a look around when you get there.......also have a look at the park layouts.....will give you an idea of where everything is.
