Help- Disney Store Interview!

meldobe - thank you for the information and good wishes. I'm glad you enjoyed the job:goodvibes Could you tell me any more about what the job entailed?

you´ll love it sid, let us know how you get on :)

I worked in the covent garden store when it opened, did my training days at regents street - Generally on the shop floor you are given an area to maintain, you greet guests that come into your area and ask if they need help etc you also keep your area tidy like making sure all the beanies are facing the right way and that all the towels are folded the same way and finger spacing the hangers.

If its the same as when i worked for them you will be moved around the store during the day so a couple of hours as a greeter on the door then in different zones like front, middle, back of store also working on the till when you are trained.

You will be given a book when you start as part of your induction which tells you all about the magic you create for the guests in the store it also gives you a list of all the disney movies and dates they were made as well as the parks etc.

Best part is the fun- we were encouraged to try out all new toys and we even demonstrated some of the summer bits- bats and balls - outside of the store, discount on the walt disney hotels was great too.

Karentan - Thank you so much for taking time away from your holiday to send me that PM, I really appreciate it.:goodvibes

Meldobe - Thank you for the information.:goodvibes

I am trying not to get too stressed out about this evening, but things just keep trying to trip me up.:headache:

I will let you all know how it went just as soon as I know.

Thank you all for the encouragement and information.:grouphug:

Can't really help on the interview other than to re-iterate what others have said ie. be yourself. Just wantd to wish you lots of luck :wizard:

Thanks Disneytinker and TotallyAngelic for your good wishes:goodvibes

Well, the interview went OK, I think.:confused3
There were about 22 of us there last night. We were split into 3 groups and did tasks, and had one to one interviews. I think I was one of the oldest candidates there.

I don't really have anything to compare it to, as it has been a long time since I did any interviews, but I think I did alright.
I will find out within the next 10 days, so keep the Pixie dust coming my way please.:wizard:

So glad it went ok, sending you lots of pixie dust i hope you get the job - dont worry about the age thing as disney employ cast members of all ages in our store we had one guy called george he was 60 when he got the job and he only greeted people on the door as he had medical problems that made merchandising shelves and or climbing ladders difficult for him but he was fantastic at making guests feel welcome and thats what makes disney magic - the wonderful cast members, as far as i know he is still there working past retirement. Sending you lots of luck.

Bit late to this but want to send you good luck :wizard: :wizard: that you get a favourable response.

Wish we had a Disney Store in my town ~ I'd probably offer to work for free! :rotfl2:

Thanks for that reassurance, again, meldobe:hug:

Ware Bears - when I went in for my one to one interview I was told that everyone else had asked about the pay first thing, but she was afraid she couldn't tell us what it would be, as it would depend on different things. I told her I didn't care what the pay was, I just wanted to work for Disney!:rotfl:

thats a really big no-no interview wise!! they really shouldnt ask about the pay in the first interview!
good luck sid and i hope you hear back soon!

Well done Sid, sounds like it went off really well for you:hug:Good luck and fingers crossed.

Thanks Karentan, florida sun and Netty:goodvibes I've got my fingers crossed.

I am going to have to move/cancel a 5 day family trip to the Disneyland Hotel at DLP if I get it, and it is only for a base of 8 hours a week, but I really want to work there.:lmao: I feel crazy for even thinking about it, but I am trying not to get my hopes up, just in case.:upsidedow

Good answer!! :goodvibes

It's a shame you'll have to cancel your DLP trip if you got it. Keep us posted - I can't wait to hear how you did!!

Sending you all the pixie dust that's left in my pockets :) ;) :wizard:

Good luck. Hope that you get the job.

Usually holidays are honoured if you've already booked them and as it's a Disney trip, hopefully they'd still let you go.
Keeping everything crossed for you.pixiedust:

Thanks for the good wishes:goodvibes

Unfortunately, I was told that nobody is allowed holidays during November, December and the first half of January, not even the management. My trip is the third week of November, so that would be impossible, even though it is to a Disney destination.:headache:

yeah they're pretty strict about the no holidays in Q1 rule. october is kinda out of the question too. makes it hard to take all your holiday allowance when you're only allowed 8 months to take 12 months of hol!
