Okay, I have spent hours looking for an answer to my question and I GIVE UP! I just received my Disney Premier Visa. From what I understand, Walmart is not considered a grocery store unless it is a designated SuperWalmart.

I know I read on the boards months ago, that someone indicated that they buy gift cards from a real grocery store to use at Walmart to get the 2%, but I could not find any Walmart gift cards at any grocery store. I do most of my grocery shopping at Walmart, so did I get the Premier Card for nothing? I thought, okay, I will buy a Visa gift card instead to use, but they charge a $5.95 fee, so that won't work.

Any suggestions?

I have never seen Walmart gift cards anywhere but Walmart.

Unfortunately if your Walmart does not count as a grocery, then you will only get the 1% for those purchases.

If your Walmart has a full grocery area I think it would be considered a SuperCenter. Go on Walmart.com and put in your zipcode it will list the stores and will say if it is a SuperCenter.

You also get 2% back in Dining, Gas and any Disney purchases.

That's weird that they charge a fee for the visa gift card... is that true of every grocery store?

I went to Target, Walmart, Safeway, & Shoppers Food Warehouse looking for gift cards, and at every one of them, there was a fee charged for all Visa/MC/AE gift cards. Stores, restaurants, gas, etc. had no fee.

What's funny is that they were charging $5.95 for a $25 gift card or $5.95 for up to a $500 gift card. Beware!

I guess I'll just have to be happy with 1% for Walmart. I spent hours driving around to get the extra 1% (spent more in gas than the savings would have been!! - that's my OCD at work). :rotfl:

I just activated the card yesterday and already reached my $500 to get my $200 gift card. :yay:

I just opened my Visa Premiere account back in September. I'm using it more like I use my debit ATM card (which I use for absolutely everything) and my points are adding up quickly! Don't forget that you can pay your utility/cable/phone/cell bills with it as well to rack up points.

I drop the amount I've spent throughout the week onto an online Chase payment and I keep my balance low. As a bit of information I had to call and find out - you are allowed to make multiple payments per month (the only restriction is one payment per checking account per day). The chase.com site is easy to navigate/use as well.

As an FYI I got my $200 card about 7 days after I hit that $500 mark. They are very prompt about getting them out to folks.

To the OP -I would say the best thing you can do is to wait for your first billing cycle to pass and see what it says on your statement. Mine caught things at the 2% level I didn't expect.

We shop at a Walmart Supercenter and we get the 2% back. We had the regular Disney Visa for years and after the first year of Premier Visa they sent us a statment showing the difference in what we would have earned. We called after them right after that and haven't regreted it since, even though we only got a $50 credit for signing up. The rewards and up fast...
