Help! Dining for the lactose intolerant?

We leave in 3 days for a trip to WDW. It just NOW hit me that I don't know if Disney serves Lactaid or Soy milk anywhere! Both my neice (4) and my DS (2) are lactose intolerant and get very ill if they drink cow's milk.

I know that I can get away with water, juice, or an occasional soda most of the time, but they both like milk too (we use lactaid normally). Is there anywhere at WDW that would carry lactose free milk???

WDW does not carry those products that I'm aware of. If you have a car, head to one of the stores listed in the link above. Or take a taxi there. Or bring your own if your room has a fridge; I've done that, freezing ahead of time.

i'm sure you already know this, but when you order meals, you might also want to inform the server/cm about the childrens' condition-i'm allergic to milk (which everyone always thinks means i'm lactose intolerant, lol) and when i informed the waiter at o'hanas of this, the chef made me special dairy-free scrambled eggs for my breakfast plate. enjoy your trip!

The only thing I saw was 1 small carton of chocolate soy milk with the other drinks at ASMO food court.
At Kona, they made me a special Kiddie Kone with soy ice cream.

Can they take the Lactaid enzyme supplements? I am lactose intolerant and this is what I use. It works well for me. It is available without a doctors prescription but at their age I would probably check with their pediatrician. They even make a chewable one that tastes like vanilla.

My DS uses the chewable Lactaid also. They have been a lifesaver for us

We asked for Soy Milk at every restaurant (table and counter). We were able to get it about half the time. I also brought some soy milk juice-boxes which were very helpful.

There's a lactose intolerance pill that I take. It's a once a day pill. So much better than taking 1 or 2 with each meal. It's made by Digestive Advantage and it's just called Lactose Intolerance. I buy it at my local grocery store but I think they have it at WalMart

there's a children's version of digestive advantage as well. chewable i think. it takes a few days to build up in the system though. you can buy it directly through amazon.com as well.

I definitely plan to keep the servers/CMs informed and will be sure to ask about soy milk. It can't hurt to ask, right?

I looked at the chewable Digestive Advantage and Lactaid at Walmart today too. The Children's Digestive Advantage was for ages 3+ so I know it will at least work for my neice. I'm going to ask the ped about my son, but he's big for 2 so hopefully we'll be able to use that. I like that its a once a day thing, its less for me to carry in the bag!

The soy ice cream would be so nice, I'm especially going to ask about that. My son always wants ice cream and usually ends up with an ice pop instead. He'd be thrilled with his own kiddie cone!

Being lactose intolerant is not at all rare, so WDW probably offers more items that may be readily apparent. I am also lactose-intolerant, but can get by with drinking a small amount of skim milk; I know that is not an option for other folks. Asking sure does not hurt; WDW folks are usually very accommodating.
