Help!! Did I Make A Mistake Booking Pop??

Preferred rooms are not all in front of a pool - believe me! We paid for a preferred room in September 07 & got stuck on the back side of the 60's with a view of nothing, far away from the pool, elevator, food court & busses & it stunk! Not what I paid the extra $$ for. They're really spread out now as far as what Disney considers a preferred room.

This is so true. When you request a preferred room at Pop, request the area you want and the view.

The last three years I always stayed at the preferred room overlooking the sixties pool. Too me the view was worth it. However, if they put me in the back of the building, I would not want to pay preferred prices.

You have to request a pool view, but it is not guaranteed. So far, they have accomodated me.

Oh yuck, I'm sorry. When I was there the front desk told me that the rooms facing the pool were the only preferred rooms, guess I should've researched it more before posting that.

I still say you should request a lakeview room, OP. They're very quiet and had a nice view.

Personally, I don't think that I would enjoy staying at a budget resort, but I also do not have kids and I also do not have to worry about saving money for kids.

Do I think that the Pop/All-Star Resorts are very kid friendly and money friendly? Yes. Do I think they are nice? No. That being said, if I were to stay at a budget resort, it would not be Pop. There is a thread on this board right now about which resort is most disappointing and Pop seemed to be #1 on the list. Food for thought.

It really is a matter of what you like and/or what you are used to and expect. I personally never liked a fancy resort. Living in New York I stayed at many so-called five star places and never felt comfortable. Disney Deluxe resorts are not 5 stars and I don't feel like they are stuffy, but I just don't see how they are all that much better then Pop.

I previously stayed at two moderate resorts and liked them very much, but I like Pop more. It is a very fun laid back atmosphere and it feels more like Disney then any of the other resorts I have visited for dinner and the mods I have stayed at.

Having said that, becuase I loved it so much I did reccomend it to a co-worker and my BIL, they both hated it. They are both wealthy and are used to fancier places. You really have to check it out and decide for yourself.

I agree. I think POP is a nice resort, clean and fun. I'm surprised at how many people think it's some scum-bag motel. It's still a Disney resort, it will be nice!

When i booked my perferred room at POP the CM asked me where i would like to stay. We stayed in the 70's building right by the big wheel. Close to the busses and the food court. I don't remember it being...noisy at all, and we were there for Thanksgiving week! I guess if you are by the pool it can get noisy. We were not in the room long enough to worry about a view, we wanted a bed and a shower! All you can do is go there, feel it out, if you don't like it, you know better next time!
