HELP! Did I get overcharged before AP prices went up?

Can someone help me sort this out? I went to the DS last night, and asked if I could still buy an AP voucher at the old price with a DC discount. The store manager happened to wait on me, and she said yes, that prices would be going up today (Sept. 11).

So I ordered an AP, gave my DC card, and then listened as she called another store manager because she had never put through an AP order before. (Bummer!) She said she'd have to call me later to tell me the price. So she did call very shortly after, and quoted me $375.24 which includes tax.

That sounds too high to me, but I don't know enough to go back and argue my case with figures. Can anyone tell if she charged me the new price WITH DC discount, or the old price with no discount? Either one would be wrong, of course. I know she didn't charge me the new undiscounted price, because I saw on mousesavers.com that it would be about $391. But I was thinking that the old price with DC discount should have been about $354 including tax.

Am I way off base? Did she charge me correctly? I could really use some help from someone who knows. Where did $375.24 come from?

Thanks so much! :D

$375.24 is the new DC price. The old DC price prior to the increase was $354.04.

I alos went to the Disney store last night (9/10/02) to purchase two adult AP @ 354.04 and two children @ 301.04. I think you shold go back to the store and plead your case.

Good luck.

I think you got the right price - I can't find anything to back it up - but when you take 354 and add 6% which is the sales tax you get 375. (rounding off here)

If it was 354 with tax before that mean the AP without tax price for DC would have been like 330 something and that seems too low to me.

Thanks for your quick answers. I think I'll go back to the store, and have the manager explain exactly where she got the $375.24 amount. It didn't help that she was clearly clueless.

Spike@okw, I'm thinking that if you got your AP for $354.10, that I should have paid the same thing. That did include tax, right?

Thanks again. This whole thing bugs me. I'm having a hard time getting clear information with or without tax, with or without DC discount, new rules, old rules. Can you tell I'm a little frustrated?

Anyway, I do appreciate your speedy replies. Hopefully I'll get this ironed out. :D

Hmmm. Just thought of something. What % sales tax do I pay, the rate in my own state or Fla. rate because the tickets originate in Fla.?

If it is my own tax rate of 6%, then Liz is right. I just multiplied $354.00 (even) by 1.06 and I got exactly $375.24 (the amt. I was quoted).

So now I'm really curious, Spike, was your $354.04 amount before tax? If so, then it sounds like I'm okay.

The passports sold in Disney Stores have Florida State Sales tax included in them, not the state in which you buy them.

Hi,

I did the same thing as you. But the
the girl I talked with said the new prices
were in the system and when the AP's
came in she would have to get the
regional manager to override the price,
to give me the old price, which was
$ 354.04 including tax . Price
before tax was around $ 339.00. This
is and adult price with DC discount.
I am real leary of this but I will give it
a try. Good luck

Thanks, mickey4ver and ALostBoy! Both of you had helpful pieces of information for me.

Think I'll still head over to the DS after work and make sure this is crystal clear before the AP comes in and I sign on the dotted line!

If I read your OP correctly, you went into the Disney Store last night to order, and if not mistaken, the price hike went into effect as of the 10th at the stores, but for your peace of mind, I would either call or go into your store to iron it all out.

I went through this same conversation on Monday night at TDS. The manager first told me that she could not sell me AP's at the old price, but after some persistance and checking, found that she could. My understanding is that the "old" price was available through close of business on the 10th.

My price was $354, including tax, for adult AP's, and $301, including tax, for child AP's.

I was also nervous about these prices being honored in a week when the voucher actually come in, but the manager assured me, and showed me the print out of the order showing the above prices.

Definately go back and speak with that manager!

The old price was exactly $334.00 + 20.04 tax = $354.04 each.
I just got two before the announcement of an increase.

I went back to the Disney Store and talked with another manager. She showed me the paperwork they had gotten from WDW, clearly saying that ticket prices would go up in the Disney Stores on SEPT. 11. Since my order was placed on Sept. 10, she was mystified why I was charged the new price of $375.24.

She made a call to the regional manager, who said he'd have to call back. So I went home and waited for the store manager to call me.

She did call me shortly after. She said that WDW claimed that they would sell tickets at the old price (get this) WHILE SUPPLIES LASTED. She said that they apparently decided that "supplies had run out" before their published date of Sept. 11. She said that she put up a stink with the regional manager about not standing by their word, which was a clearly published date. I sure never heard anything about "while supplies last." Nor had the store manager! It was not in her paperwork from WDW.

So the regional manager said that he would talk with HIS supervisor at the head office, and see about getting an exception for me. I am to find out tomorrow whether they will honor the old price or not. I'm frankly not very hopeful, but we'll see. I'm not going to lose sleep over it. I should have bought my AP earlier and not pushed it till the last day. "You snooze, you lose." But I must confess that "while supplies last" when we're talking about ticket vouchers seems very strange.

Thanks, everyone, for trying to help me with information! I do appreciate all the replies. :D

I am hopeful that they will come up with your "exception." But if not -- get them to check the item number. Someone else on this board almost had a problem with their price, but noticed that there were two numbers for each ticket type - one reflected the old price and one the new price. New or experienced, the CM's may have picked the new number - not noticing it had changed. Just another avenue to try if you do not get your exception.

I think I may have been overcharged also. I called the Danbury, CT Disney Store on Sat Sept 7, to order 2 Premium Annual Passes and w/the Disney Club discount I was quoted a price of 497.17. Now I'm thinking this is the new price. Can anyone tell me what the old and new prices for the Premium Annual Passes are? I see much discussion of the regular Annual Pass but nothing of the Premium Annual Pass. I hope I was not charged incorrectly. I called the Disney Club # yesterday and they quoted me the same price I was quited on Sat. Also, the manager at the DS told me that I could not pay for the vouchers in full until they came in because she could not sell me something that she did not have in the store. I hope that I am able to get the old price as I believe it would save me almost $100. Help! If I was quoted incorrectly I'm not sure if I'll even be able to get the old price now:(

Adult PAP old prices:

$497.17 full price
$475.97 DC price

Adult new prices:

$518.38 full price
$497.17 DC price (not a typo - same as old full price)

Sorry for the delay in getting back to the board, but on 9/10/02 I purchased two adult and two children (Regular AP) for the following prices:

Adult: $354.04 x 2
Child: $301.04 x 2

My total bill was $1310.16, tax was not identified in as a line item on my bill, all I can say is that it was included in the prices above.
travelbug I would try calling the DC direct to complain.

Now I am really confused ...I drove about 1 1/2 hour to nearest TDS to purchase my PAP....The manager would not let me pay, I asked a few times to but he promised me that since they were ordered on the 10th that I would get the old price. The sad fact of it is that I do not remember the price. I really should pay closer attention...I knew about what it should be. Well now I will wait til they call me to pick up to see if I receive the old or new. Thanks for the info on this thread, at least I will feel a lil better informed next time I go.

I first heard about the price increase on the rumors board on 9-6.
Went to the local DS and ordered 4 PAPs and paid for them at that time. Price of 475.97 each. The mnanager told me that the stores were not notified of the price increase until the morining of 9-6, when they got a binder from corporate with barcodes for all the different ticket types. I saw the binder and each page had the effective date of 9-8-2002.
So anyone who got the old prices on or after 9-8 was getting a "special" deal.

Hi, Tigger Freak! I see that we're from the same town! :D

I'm curious which DS you went to. I went to the one at Oakland mall. The manager showed me her paperwork from Disney. It said that ticket prices at the park entrances went up as of Sept. 8, but ticket prices at the DS would go up as of Sept. 11. The whole thing sure doesn't seem very organized, does it?

I never got a call back on Friday to tell me what price I'd be paying. So rather than call, I think I'll stop by there again tomorrow to see what's going on.

I'm just thankful that I was only buying ONE annual pass, which only means a difference of about $20 one way or another. I'd probably be more concerned about the whole thing if I'd been buying a number of passes. Fortunately, I bought a number of park hoppers back in February. So they were safely tucked away long before these price changes. Too bad I didn't buy my AP sooner too...
