Help.. did I book a crummy hotel in SD?

I will be traveling with bf and DD2 to DL and then San Diego in Aug. I booked the Bahia resort. It is located on Mission Bay. We want to have a room with a view. It is near SW so that is also a plus. Also, any advice on good eating places that are family friendly in SD? thanks!

Gourmet dining, it ain't, but Hometown Buffet should have something everyone would eat.

I don't know how the Bahia is on the inside, but it is in a great location.

Hmmm.. a buffet is a great idea because everybody can usually find something to eat there.
I don't know anyone that has stayed there. (bahia) I am hoping it is at least clean and decent considering the price they charged me.

The Bahia is....old and very much in need of a major rehab. We have stayed there twice and will not be going back until they rehab the rooms. The propery is very pretty and the location is great. However, the rooms are a major question mark. If you get into there newer section it is ok and I do mean just ok. The place was clean. However the sliding glass door did not lock, the beach was closed because they were digging it up. The furniture is late 80s. Not at all what you would expect for the prices they charge.

The first room they gave us was in the old section and reminded me of a single wide trailer. Very run down and smelled musty.

Just make sure you ask for a newer room.

Angel, thanks for the info. I did read on tripadvisor that you must ask for the new renovated section or you will get a crappy room. Sounds like your stay was very unpleasant. I did call the resort ans ask for a newer room on my reservation. But we all know that it can be a totally different thing when you arrive. Wish me luck!

okay, i looked at some vitual tourist pix of the rooms and promptly decided that the bahia is not gonna work for me and my family. i cancelled those reservations and made new ones - change # 5 to this trip-----Geeeez!

Yes...you are a Disney Dreamer. We have the tendency to change reservations numerous times. I am sure you will have a fantastic vacation. I know how stressful it is when your planning a vacation involving people you love. We (Disney people) want our vacations to be perfect. Nothing less will truely make us happy. As I said, I know....I have done it numerous times.

We are headed to SD in two weeks. We have a family reunion there. I love, love SD and can't wait. However, I am checking and re-checking the hotel, looking for good restaurants, activies for our one free day. And it is just DH and myself going.

You are absolutley right, I want everything to be perfect. I have been this way since about 10 years ago when my cousin planned a family reunion trip that was horrid. The hotel (cabins) were nasty, the trip was extremely boring, etc. I asked her about it later and she said she looked for the nearest place and booked it. I thought, Gee put a little time into it. With the wonderful internet highway we have access to tons of info. I hope I can keep the plans i have, lol.
ON the other hand, have fun in San DIego. My sis and her family leave for SD on the 10 th for five days. I will be there in Aug. Cannot wait, I have heard wonderful things about it.
