Help! Did I ask for the correct standard view at BWV?

I just got off of the phone with MS to make my summer 2002 ressies. MS was incredibly nice and helpful, but I was describing my standard view request (based on help from all you wonderful DISer's), and the MS CM told me that I couldn't see Illuminations Fireworks from a standard view room. I thought that I had read here several times that this was possible. She did request "upper floor -away from the elevators -view of MGM fireworks" and said that we "might" get a corner room. I even told her that I thought that some of the fireworks from Illuminations could be seen over the convention center but she still indicated that it would not be possible. She has stayed at BW, so I can't even say that she is only looking at a map. I also remember reading here that some standard views can see MGM, but am I totally confused (entirely possible) about being able to see Illuminations? Should I call back and talk to someone else, or leave my request alone, since MGM fireworks would also be good? I know standard views are, after all standard, but I don't want to request the wrong thing.

IMHO, she is "technically" correct. I have stayed in standard view rooms twice now and each time, we were able to see the "higher"
fireworks of Illuminations from our balcony. She is correct in that you cannot see the globe or any of the laser effects.

I think your request is exactly right, but if you don't get the "far away from the elevators" portion, don't worry. We were fairly close to the elevators and on the second floor for both of our visits. We made no requests except for non-smoking. And you will be so close to EPCOT that it's very easy to walk over for just Illuninations or catch the fireworks portion from the bridge if you don't want to enter the park.

I don't believe you will be able to see MGM from a standard room, but you should be able to see EPCOT. Illumanations is at EPCOT, so you might be able to see part of it over BWI and trees.

We will be in a standard room in Feb. and I am also hoping to be able to see them from our balconey.

hi: we were on the 4th floor and only 2 doors away from the elevator the first week of may. our room overlooked the driveway. you could see the higher fireworks from either of the balconies.
