Help! DH is freaking out....

Well if you signed up for TGM, then you have probably been advised to avoid any park with EMH. Best advice is to follow the recommended park advice you have gotten from TGM, follow his, which ride first suggestions and youll be fine. Dont forget to take the park breaks! Absolutely crucial!

Well thank you THANK you to everyone who responded with suggestions. It looks like we are sticking w/ our original dates in April. As it turns out my husband's step-sister and her family are all going to FL the same week (guess I should have called and asked her when her spring break was  ) so we have decided to use TGM and make the best of it and hopefully get to spend a day or two with family as well.

I informed DH I will do everything I can to make the week great but when I say run for a FP he'd better jump to it! :rotfl2: He agreed. If he gets too cranky I'll send him back for a nap and take the kiddos on my own!

I'll have my LGM on my Baggalini so if you see us say HI! :goodvibes

Sounds like your attitude is positive. That is most of the battle. Have fun (cracking the FP whip).

Disney extended the dining hours for the week we will all be there. It's definitely going to be busy.

I was just going to post the same thing. Not a good sign, but I would still go. Especially if the kids are looking forward to it. Better than staying home;)

Hi! Are you in FtC too? I'm considering changing to May as well. I picked that specific week in April because the kids would only miss 3 days of school. In May I'm running into ballet recital issues. I'm starting to think my best friend who homeschools has the right idea. ;) I'm glad I haven't told the kids we are going yet!

And yes - 70 degrees on Sat was HEAVENLY! :cloud9: I wish it would last all week!

Yes, I live in Fort Collins. We live in the south end of town. I've been to WDW seven times over the last twelve years. My kids are teens now. While most of the trips have been family trips, I have taken one solo trip and one trip with just my husband. One trip was a family trip with extended family. The upcoming trip in May will be a mother/daughter trip. While much is the same every trip, there is always something new each trip too.

Are you flying Frontier, United or Southwest? I prefer to fly non-stop if I can. We are flying Frontier this May.

It looks like you are staying at the Poly. We stayed there once and loved it.

I would grab a sister or a girlfriend, and leave him home!

There is no need to worry. There are plenty of ways to avoid long lines.
Our first trip to Disney was Easter weak (with DS5, DD 3, DS 8mo.). The crowds were so large MK was closed by mid afternoon on Easter Sunday. Here is how we enjoyed every minute of it:

On Easter Sunday we went to MK for EMH - were there before it opened. Went straight to Fantasyland (*even though they said it wasn't open yet - it was when we got there). We did all of Fantasyland, Toontown (except Judges Tent) and all of Tomorrowland and left for mass at the Contemporary at 10:30. We returned after mass. Grabbed a snack and waited for the parade. Then just did what we could in Adventureland and Frontierland. I would not do the afternoon parade again. There are great characters, but it is hot and you have to wait a long time for a good seat. This is a great time to get on rides with little wait. The evening parade and fireworks are much better!

If the park with the EMH gets too busy, leave and go to another park or go back to the hotel for a swim. Evening EMHs are great too, if your kids can handle it.
Also, use Fast Passes and rider switches if you have young children. You can go on the ride, your husband can go on the ride, and your older kids can go on twice with little wait - just ask a CM at the front of the ride.

You will have a great time, just plan your days ahead of time and relax>

Funny that he wants you to cut it shorter due to crowds. Part of my arguement would be that the longer you're there, the more time you have to do things insted of feeling you have to cram it all in. I would feel MORE stressed by eliminating days.

Last time I was at WDW, we went over Easter and were actually in the MK the day of the televised parade:scared1: . To add to the fun, I was traveling with my mom who was in an electric wheelchair. Aside from her almost running people over every so often, it wasn't so bad. Very crowded, but somehow didn't seem outrageous. (maybe I was just drugged on disney magic and didn't notice:cloud9: )

Maybe the book UG is not taking into account that Easter is very early this year. Historically, April is so busy because of easter/spring break.

I hope so, because that is the same time I am going.
Same week
Please say it isn't true....

Those really won't be bad days. They are between 5-7 with one 8, keep in mind that the quietest day of the year at WDW is a 4. Multiply that number by 10, and you get the projected *peak* wait times at space, splash or big thunder mountain. You won't be riding space mountain during the peak time, you'll either do it first thing in the morning, or get a fastpass for it.

I've been during higher crowds than that and never waited more than 20 minutes for anything (we followed the UG touring plans).

They are taking easter into consideration, but most (public) schools in New England (and I think new york) have their school vacation in the middle or end of april rather than tying their vacations to easter, which moves around the calendar from year to year. The WDW nightmare scenario is when the NY/NE vacation weeks come at the same time as easter but that isn't the case this year.
