help-- DH has had "enough" of disney...

DH and I have been married almost 2 years... we went to DL when we were dating, and we've been to WDW twice since we've been married. We're planning another trip for next May with my parents at their timeshare... he's saying he only wants a 2 day pass b/c he's had enough and just wants to spend time by the pool, playing golf, etc. He says I get "crazy" with our reservations and things... I promised this would be a more laid back trip. He loves Universal/IOA and I told him we would definitely go there. He likes the water parks, so we would definitely go to BB or TL one day... and of course if he wants to play golf that's fine, I'll just go shopping! Any suggestions on "different" things to do while we're there? Thanks in advance for your suggestions!

My DH does not like going to Disney AT ALL and has a fit everytime I start planning a trip. He does not understand why I want to keep going back to a place that I have already been. He says it's too much money and he thinks I am crazy. I've tried to explain to him that it is just a place where I love to be and how much I look forward to my one week vacation there. Even when I plan a trip with my mom and sister and he does not even have to go, he is still not happy. He just does not understand. However, our Disney vacation is very important to me and my DM and DSister. I will not let him spoil our good time. I save my change and bonus money all year to pay for the trip so it's not like I'm using money that should go to bills or anything. Just extra money that I earned.

My DH likes WDW, but not as much as I do. He comes every couple years (this is a big year, he's coming 2x!)
What I do for him is tone it WAY down. He doesn't want to hear about planning & all that - Drives him nuts. So I talk to you guys about it instead of him, lol.
Also, I plan things specifically for him like Breathless Bursts, Richard Petty, Segway Tours, Favorite Dining Experiences.
I also NEVER push him to be commando. We do Disney at a totally different pace with DH. We stroll, dine, have coffee or pastries. It's not so much about the attractions with him, it's about the relaxation & pampering, so that's what we tend towards when he's along. If he wants to go take a nap & my DS & I want to go commando - we split up for awhile. Now that DS is older, there have been times where both of them lounge at the resort & I go to a Park alone (or vice versa)

The key for us is being Flexible & letting each of us choose the vacation experience we each crave. Even if that means seperating sometimes. That's the only way I would have been able to get him to come with us this many times.

I go to the parks by myself all the time. Just go without him. You can then ride whatever ride you want, as many times as you want, whenever you want. It's all good! Enjoy, that's what it's there for.

Well, I thought I'd heard of everthing at WDW, but i guess I haven't! What exactly is a "Breathless Burst?"

Maybe that's his idea of vacation-spending time by the pool and playing golf every day. DH plays golf evey day at WDW, lies around the pool alot, went to the parks only twice in our last week-long trip to WDW, and we both had a wonderful time! Every day I'd go to the parks while he golfed, we'd meet back at the resort, spend time at the pool, then some evenings we'd go to the parks or DTD. Then the last night, I was so shocked, DH actually came up with the idea of going to a character dinner together (fortunately we got one)! We both love our trips to WDW.

My dh hates all things Disney so he does not go with us. He is happy at home with the dogs and his garden, ds14 and I are happy with Mickey, and we plan an alternate family trip that we can all agree on. That said, ds and I try to plan at least one new thing each trip that is not necessarily park involved. We've done Breathless, an Illumination cruise, played mini golf, spent an afternoon at DisneyQuest and taken day trips to Universal.

Well, obviously those of us who post here are a bit Disney crazy, but there are lots of other things in Orlando. There's a book called "The Other Orlando: What to do when you've done Disney and Universal" by Kelly Monaghan. It's FULL of good ideas, lots of stuff I have never heard of.

I haven't been out alone in almost 16 yrs GOOD thing DH does disney with me maybe not as often as I'd like but as often as we can afford.

I think even if DH didn't like disney visits I'd be pushin him and reminding him of all the hours I do spend with him doing things I really don't care to do most of which most here would never ever encounter less than 1% of the the world population does these things and even fewer females tolerates doing them.

My wife is the same way. She is doing disney this year because it will be our DD's first time. However she also doesn't want to hear about the planning. She also knows that several mornings I will leave early with my dd and head to the parks and my wife will just meet us later. I would let your husband go golfing or lounge around the pool as much as he wants during the day while your at the parks, and spend the evenings together.

Breathless is a gorgeous replica 1930's Mahagony Criss Craft Speedboat which lives at the Yacht & Beach Club Marina. It is available for Illuminations Cruises - but even better for "Bursts". The captain takes you out on Crescent Lake etc... & whisks you about at very high speeds. They head straight for the wall at Boardwalk, or the beach & just when you are sure you are going to crash, the captain spins the wheel, Breathless turns on her side & spins off the other direction.The captains LOVE to take her out & let her run, so you do this over & over. It is wet, wild & completely exhilirating!

We have done the Bursts as often as Breathless is available when we are there. It used to be part of the Breathless Illuminations Cruise until Legal put a Kabash on it.

I highly recommend it for the Thrill Seeker in your life.

My BF is worried that this will happen to us - that we'll get bored of Disney. I want to go every year when married (besides getting married there)!

I tell him: 'Shush!'

I'm glad to hear I'm not the only with in this situation! We don't have any kids yet, and he's looking forward to bringing our future kids there one day. I don't mind splitting up, we went in March with some friends and we spilt up a lot, that's fine. It's just that I don't want it to be a vacation with just me and my parents-- He like Pleasure Island at night, so I'll talk to him about spending more time there. And I think you're right about keeping my mouth shut with the planning-- he gets overwhelmed! I haven't really starting planning my next trip yet, but when I do, I'll have to keep my thoughts to myself! Thanks to all of you And I'm also going to look into that Burst thing-- sounds interesting! Actually, we haven't done too much in the resorts, that's another idea that I'm going to look into.

My husband of less than 2 years keeps asking if we can go on a cruise instead. But I had promised my DD16 that we would go for her birthday and do a backstage tour when she was 12. So we are going.

I made early adr for dinner every night so he could sleep in and meet up with us later. I also booked him on a fishing trip by himself since he has to put up with 2 16 yo girls and me for over a week.

We are a family of 3 generations of Disney nuts and our 4th generation was born in February. I think once you have kids, it will change his mind. My hubby is just as nutty as me.
