My DB is getting married this Saturday, DH and DS11 are groomsmen. The best man is coming from out of town and won't have time to buy stuff to decorate the car so it has fallen on me (DH is completely unreliable, but that's another thread). I have no idea what to get. Please help.

Can it be a little racy?

My car was decorated nicely on the outside - cans, ribbons, balloons, just married sign. I loved the just married sign BTW. When we were on our way to Boston to catch our honeymoon flight, people in traffic let us in wherever we needed to go.

But the inside was a different story. There was a pregnancy test hanging from the rear-view mirror, condoms in the glove compartment, and when DH filled up the gas tank on our way back from our honeymoon, he found a condom covering the gas cap.

I think the instigators of the car decoration just got a bunch of stuff, and had wedding-goers who wanted to, come out and help.

You can buy "paint" for car windows that is very easy to get off-I think it just rubs off. High school kids here use it all the time. And here's what NOT to do-our groomsmen stuffed the air conditioner vents with sardines, of all things. It was AWFUL!!

DB is a little uptight and would NOT appreciate anything racy. I could see him getting angry and I don't want to do that to him on his wedding day.

The first question that popped into my head was: would he be ok with the car being decorated in the first place? When I got married, DH made it loud & clear that no one was to touch the car. I personally didn't care but the car was DH's baby--luckily everyone understood & left the car alone!

If they're fine with it, I'd probably keep it pretty simple. Maybe a sign & some streamers or something. Things that can be easily cleaned off/removed. :)

They used condoms as balloons on ours. (Just FYI, Me brudder found out the hard way to not use the lubricate kind...:crazy2: )

For my brother's wedding we decorated the car with two car flags that said "Just married" then I think had another sign on the back. It was my other brother's brand new car so we couldn't go too crazy with it plus my brother who was getting married didn't want all the tacky crap all over the car. We found the car flags and sign at a party store in the area. I agree with the the paint for the car windows. Check out party stores in your area. And by party store, I mean the stores that sell things for parties, not where you go to get beer or snacks. ;)

Oh, I'm sure he'll be fine with having the car decorated. Actually, I think my SIL-to be would be disappointed if it wasn't.

Oh good. :) My DH is a good guy but can be a stick in the mud about some things. :rotfl: :rotfl:

I remember when I was young, we used to make flowers out of tissues and tape them to the cars...ALL OVER the car. :rotfl:

I like this idea, but the tape would be a problem, especially on his black car in the FL sun.

Whatever you do, DON'T use shoe polish! My ex's friends wrote all over his car with white shoe polish and it never completely came off!

Here's a few things we have done to friends. Filled the ENTIRE car with balloons. They had to take some out before they could get in. Also we put confetti in the air vents so when they turned on the car the confetti shot all over the car. 2yrs. later there was still alittle confetti coming out of the air vents. And the the basic putting the cans on the back.

I also leave a parting gift on the front seat. Gift bag filled with goodies. Champange, condoms, whip cream, and a how to manual. Things like that.

What ever you do, keep it light and fun, not distructive.

I just decorated my friends car last friday. I got a set of Window Clings that had just married & such on them --got them at a party supply place. And tied Balloons to the mirrors. I was looking for some of those little pom poms but could not find any.

just don't use shaving cream (it can eat through the clear coat on the paint and cause permanant damage) or silly string (it can stain the leather and fabric interiors-as well as cause some paint damage to the exterior). also take into consideration anything you put on the outside or inside that might rub against the b/g's clothing when they travel home (i've seen tuxedos get stained such the groom had to buy them from the rental place, wedding gowns perm. stained).

we asked our friends not to decorate our car-we were leaving on our honeymoon the next morning and that car would have sat uncleaned for over a week, as well as sticking out like a sore thumb at the park and fly hotel we left it at (and the last thing we needed was to come home to a burlglarized car).
