Family of 5 (kids 4-9 years old with a stroller). One week in early February: MK, HS, EP.
We are not sure if 2BR are worth the extra points.
Which would you choose? Are all these resorts equally updated? Here are my options:
1. BLT 1BR
2. RIV 1BR
3. VGF 1BR (almost same # of points as 2BR options)
4. CCV 2BR
5. BCV 2BR

The CCV units are pretty small. Being a 2BR helps.

RIV and CCV are going to be the most "updated." BCV is several years past refresh, and BLT had softgoods in, uh, 2018 maybe? VGF is due for refresh.

That said, I'd still go BLT because that second bathroom in a 1BR, at a mid-range for points.

For me, it depends where you want to spend most of your time. With the age of your children, I'd expect to spend the most time at the Magic Kingdom, so I'd go with BLT. You'll also get an extra bathroom in the BLT 1BR, but that matters more when they're teenagers.

If you plan to spend more time at Hollywood Studios or Epcot, and you plan to spend a lot of time at the pool, then I'd go with BCV.. I don't think you really need the 2BR at that age, but the pool and proximity to Epcot and Hollywood Studios makes it work it, from my perspective.

Given that it's early February, I don't think you'll be swimming too much, so I wouldn't choose BCV b/c I wouldn't want to have to tell the kids that it's too cold for SAB. haha.

BLT 1BR or CCV 2BR if I was you. CCV is newer, has a more distinct theming that may be more attractive to the kids. But BLT is walking to MK, monorail to EPCOT, and probably lighter on points. Also, the pool at BLT isn't special, so you aren't missing much.

I think I would say a 2br is overkill for a family of 5 with three kids. A 1br should be plenty of room.

Of the 1brs, Riviera has the newest rooms and they are very nice--large rainfall shower and jacuzzi tub, comfy pull down wall bed instead of the pullout sofa at most DVCs. I hear the 1brs at VGF are beautiful though not necessarily "updated" in the sense that they intentionally old-timey in their design rather than modern-looking, but that isn't to say they are shabby either. I think those are the best two choices.

BLT would be good for saving points but it is not a resort that is as "fun" as the other two in theme for me.

Mostly it comes down to how your kids feel about sharing a bed. I lean toward 2bdrm at BCV for the location and the added space; bus service to MK is good. By contrast, bus service from MK area to HS bites especially if you are a park opening family (if you sleep late it doesn't really matter).

BLT 1bdrm does have the advantage of the extra full bath AND the pool is shaded by the building in the afternoon. Not really my vibe but SWMBO and the heir like it.

BCV or CCV would be fine if you want to go to the 2BR point level.

BLT is perhaps your best choice for a 1BR. Points are lower than Riv and VGF, the room has the extra pullout twin size chair to sleep 5, there are two full bathrooms, and you can walk to MK.
