HELP!! DD maybe sick we leave Tuesday Morning

OMG!! My dd (6) has had the sniffles and a cough for the last week but says she feels perfectly fine and acts like she feels perfectly fine so I've been giving her some cough syrup that the doc gave her the last time this happened, it's just a cough suppresant and decongestant. I've been convinced that she just has bad allergies as most people around here do right now. Now here's todays scenario: She wakes up around 5:45 for the day she always sleeps until at least 7:30 or 8:00, we were busy outside all day long (she was in and out but spent a lot of time out helping), she started complaining aroudn 2:00 this afternoon that her eyes were really burning (I'm thinking it's either allergies or she's really tired), then all of a sudden tonight she says she is freezing and has goose bumps so I take her temp and it is 101.1 not really high but still a fever. So I gave her a warm bath and put her straight to bed, she has been fast asleep for about 2 hours now. DH went and checked on her about an hour after she went to sleep and she woke up and said she felt fine she was just really tired. So help me out here. Do you all think she just over did it and her body is reacting to that or do you think she maybe really sick. I was ready to just cancel earlier but DH says wait it out until morning.

Thanks in advance I'm just looking for some similar experiences. Hopefully some of you can give me some hope that our vacation is not lost. If she's really sick then of course DS and DD#2 will be next to get it and I hate the thought of taking them all the way to Disney only to have them sick for the whole trip. BTW last year everyone was sick for our entire trip and so this is the reason for my immediate desire to cancel and just stay home, LOL..

I'd see how she feels this morning and take her to an urgent care (or your doctor if they happen to be open today) if she has a fever or feels bad. Both my DDs have allergies, and DD5 has had five ear infections this year. Each time, her allergies caused her eustachian tube to get blocked, which caused the ear infection. Any time I see a fever after several days of cold or allergy symptoms, I am suspicious of an ear infection or a sinus infection. If it is either of those, she should feel better in about 24 hours with antibiotics, so you probably wouldn't have to cancel your trip. The eye-burning sounds like allergies or just tiredness. If it is an ear infection or sinus infection, you shouldn't have to worry about the other kids getting it, unless they go through the same process (i.e. - they won't get the infection directly from her, but they could develop their own).

I'm no doctor, BTW, so I would take her in, particularly with a trip starting tomorrow! Good luck and have a great trip!

Thanks for the reply. Good news! She slept good all night from about 6:00 last night until 7:00 this morning. When she first woke up she said she still didn't feel great but has since eaten and gotten dressed. Fever is gone and she's acting perfectly fine again, I think she just over did it yesterday. I cannot tell you how relieved I am. So it's off to Disney tomorrow.

If she does get sick while in disney remember the 1st aid stations have FREE cough syrup, cough drops... and I few other things you don't want to speand on arm and a leg on in the gift shop. Last year the MK and AK ones even gave me spare to take back to the room for the night.
