Hi! Our family of 9 is leaving next Friday (as in 1 week from today) and I would LOVE to get some custom matching tshirts made. What is the best place to do this? Thanks! Want something like, Morton Family Disney Trip '10. Thanks in Advance!

Check out the Creative DISigns board here on the Disboards. There are some very talented designers who would be happy to create something for you. Then you can print out the design on transfer paper and iron them on tshirts. We had several designed for our last trip.

Try zazzle as well.....not sure if there is enough time or not though. There may be a pre-done design or you can make up your own. Good Luck.

There's not much time...........:upsidedow but you could try this:

Go to your closest Target/Walmart/KMart/JoAnne Fabric/HobbyLobby and find the plain tee-shirts (like Hanes- usually $5/$6/$7). Either there or another store look for iron-ons ( letters for all those shirts would be costly). Personally, I would try to find Disney related iron on-s and then use the colored fabic glu to writeout each name. Wish you the best- I love seeing the matching tee-shirt families and have done it myself!!!:woohoo:

Totally second the Disboards Creative area. I made all 4 of us shirts for our 7 days in disney in august. Hobby lobby had shirts for 50% off so they were 1.50 a shirt for the kids 1.99 for shirts for the adults. They have held up very well. The only thing I caution is I personally did not care for their iron ons. I love love love Amy_Mickey's iron ons they are holding up very well after lots of washings. I have heard good things about walmarts as well. Happy Vacation I cannot wait til our next one!

You can do it - get an iron on made (or make one yourself!!) and purchase shirts and iron them on!! its fun to do ...or, you could make tie dye mickey head shirts - they are cool too. Or, you could wait till you got to Disney and just purchase everyone matching shirts.....dont give up!!!

Yep head to the Creative section of the DIS and see what can be done for ya. They are all so very talented and great. Iron ons are sooo easy and simply made. They hold up for the most part. and people love to see families wearing them. I know I do!

The tie dye mickey head one is really great too. Here is a link to the thread for the tie dye incase you want to try that. Its fun and great family project.

I also agree with getting iron on transfer sheets and doing them yourself. Last year I bought tshirts from Jiffyshirts.com and they came in about 3 days! They have every size, type, and color you could ever imagine and they are super cheap!

billwendy-
how did you make the shirts in your first picture? the blue ones w/everyone wearing mickey hats? i have never made iron ons before, did you design them yourself on the computer? thanks! all your shirts are adorable!!

Michael's also has the plain tees and lots of iron on's. I don't know how well they hold up after washing, but if you wash the shirt first, then do the iron on, and get a good one or two wearings it should be okay!

Or, isn't there a place at DTD that does them now? It is probably WAY more money, but they do them there right away I thought.

Michaels and Hobby lobby have plain shirts for kids/adults (I like Mikes over Hobby's) Since its more last min go w/ Avery's iron ons. The ones from M's are CRAP. We used them on our trip and they completely flaked off when we washed them at the hotel (after use). The Avery ones stayed all together (I needed one more tshirt done for all of us and had no more iron ons so I went to walmart and got Avery's).

Someone on the Disigns boards made them for me!! They are really so talented and NICE over there!! you could try to make it on your own though!! If by any chance we have the same number of people, we could change the wording on mine and make it yours!! I could definately help you alter it some with my photo program.

Making iron on's is not hard at all!!! Make sure you prewash your shirts (ours were from walmart - a little more $ but I knew we would like the weight and feel of the all cotton tshirt a bit more). You also pick out your iron ons - there are clear ones for light colored shirts where you have to print your design backwards onto them. Then the ones for dark shirts are like printing onto white paper so (like ours) the white shows.

I'd be happy to help you however I could!!

thanks for your offer billwendy!! we don't have 11 people, just 8. i'll have to try and see if someone on the creative thread could make that i guess. should i request this of the same person who made it for you? i'll have to check out the iron on's at walmart. thanks for your help!

We are leaving one week from today, too!

We didn't have custom shirts made, but made our own. Just the classic Mickey head cut out of contact paper and used some sprayable paint on white shirts. I can give more details if you get in a bind and want to try it! Enjoy your trip!

Kind of related, but I didn't want to start a new post just for this question:

I only have a B/W laser printer. Do most people here print their transfers at home on a color printer or do you know of someplace that I could possibly print them at without having to buy a new printer?

Thanks,
Michelle

Questions -

I only want 2 shirts in each of 4 colors. I will need an infant size and toddler size in each color. Can you pick and choose individual shirts at HL and Michaels, or are they in bulk packs?
My WalMart doesn't have Avery iron-ons. Can I get them at the craft stores?
Also, will I need to get a fresh ink cartridge for my HP LaserJet printer. Does this require a lot of ink for about 8 iron ons? Or will Staples do these in their print/copy center?

LWatson.....who designed your shirts? They are all adorable!!!!!

I got them from diff designers on the creative DISigns area. Milliepie (she did 3 of them), Natalie, & Tebbi if I remember right.
