I made some of our dining ressies a few months ago, and decided that we should book Cape May as well. We are staying at the BCV. The last couple times we stayed there, the ressies weren't needed and we walked in. I didnt want to risk it this time, but when I went to make the ressies for them and our other normal places, they all want CC holds. We're on the meal plan. Is this a new policy or did my fav places to eat add a requirement recently? There are 6 adults and 1 baby in our party. Someone help!

The policy is to require a credit card for a number of the restaurants. They won't charge anything when you make the reservation, but they will charge $10 per person if you cancel less than a day out from the ADR or do not show up at all.

I NEVER blow off ressies, but the cc hold makes me nervous. There are 7 of us there for over a week.

Do you think its possible to walk into Cape May for an early dinner at the end of this month? In the past we have, but I didn't want to skip ressies and then not find a place to eat. We have a baby and my parents with us. Neither keeps well, if you know what I mean.

I guess I should just suck it up. :(

If this is for your trip that starts in 18 days, then I would make the ADR. It's free dining time, which means that even if the parks aren't busy, the restaurants will be. If you never blow off ADRs, then the CC guarantee won't be an issue. It's only an issue if you cancel.

Last October, they began requiring a credit card guarantee for all of the Signature and character dining locations. It used to be only the dining events (e.g., HDDR) and a few other locations required cc guarantees or pre-payment. Cape May requires a cc now because it has characters at breakfast. As the PPs have said, you won't be penalized if you show up for your ADR or if you cancel the ADR on the previous day (e.g., cancel on Tuesday for a Wednesday ADR).

Also, just a note, don't forget to include the baby in the ADR head count. :)
