My daughters new hunsband did not get paid for three weeks and ended up quiting his job. They were to arrive at All Star Movies for their honeymoon on June 30. I was staying at the Poly (my first time there been dying to stay there for years). We had to bump to a room that would accommodate all 5 of us and this was the first suggestion since it was two rooms and I could not afford to pay for my daughters room to.

I am not a camping person. How rough is it to stay in the cabins? I see an issue with getting to the pool and main buses. I use an ECV and would be in an accessible cabin.

Admitidly I am spoiled. I like my room service. I saw on the web that pizza delivery is not even available. Do they allow Dominos???
Convince me that it will be okay.

With the excption of room service...the cabins are INCREDIBLE!!! You may never want to stay at another resort again. Im not sure about Dominos...but Id bet outside pizza delivery is not even a small problem. Relax...you have found a hidden jewel in the Fort.

I've used hubby's ECV all over Ft. Wilderness. (He has a bad knee and uses it at Disney World, but doesn't come with me on my Ft. Wilderness trips, so I used to bring it and use it like a golf cart.) There is a pool right near the cabin loops and I think the accessible cabin loop is right next to the pool.

You could ride your ECV to the main bus stop at Outpost and bypass the internal buses. Depending on your normal battery expectancy, you could also ride your ECV out to Settlement also, then catch the boat to MK. (That would add about 3/4 mile each way). All of the cabins have an outside plug, so to save space in the cabin, you could park your ECV outside with a cover on it and charge it outside. (I use a gas grill cover on ours).

The cabins are great and have daily house keeping like the resorts. You can pick up a great pizza at Trails End. A golf cart rental would help out with the walking. Usually I say go for it, but if this is a honeymoon maybe 2 rooms at The All stars would be better and a bit cheaper, maybe even easier with the ECV.

First of all, I have never stayed at the Poly. But I have stayed at some nice reosrts at other locations. I really love FW and the cabins fit our needs. Here is a short list of things i like about the cabins.

1) Kitchens
2) Deck
3) BBQ
4) quiet
5) peaceful
6) Nice people at staying at FW
7) Plenty of room for everyone.
8) Mousekeeping that does your dishes
9) Coffee made "my way"
10) Golf Cart,
11) wild life
12) Campfire with Chip and Dale
I could come up with another 20.

Some of the things I don't like about the cabins
1) one bathroom
2) no room service
3) average linens and towels. No luxury items.

There isn't a lot of privacy in the cabin. There is a room but it isn't really that sound proof. I am thinking about honeymooners:love: . For regular folks it is great. I have stayed at the All-stars and Port Orleans too. And you wouldn't be disappointed if you had 2 rooms there either. At Port Orleans you can take the boat to DTD for evening meals. We loved that too.

Hope this helps.

The fort is the best place to stay. I would rather camp at the fort than to have a free stay given to me at one of the deluxe resorts.

You have me convinced. Its been so long since we stayed there on our first trip. I didn't need the ECV back then. As for the honeymooners they have 3 nights alone on a cuise before we go to Disney. My daughters husband has never been on a plane, cruise ship or to disney before so she wants him to see everything. I wonder if sleep is inculded in that. My son told me he would take me for a weekend in Dec and we could stay at the Poly then. I'm starting to look forward to it. I even found a thread about a 4th of July parade. That should be fun to watch.

So you are convinced. I see that you have been to many Disney resorts too. And I mean it when I say that the people that stay there are nice!!!! Everyone waves to each other and says good morning. It is so nice. Don't forget to reserve your golf cart before you go if you need one. They rent out quickly.

I second that

I would get a golf cart for at least for 1 day for looping at the Fort.

Same here! We've stayed at several onsite resorts, but nothing beats the Fort!

I can't imagine staying any where at WDW but at FW, maybe one night in the suite in Cindy's castle, but other than that you can have it. :woohoo:

If you are a member of AAA, let them know when you book your cabin. I think you can get 15% off the rack rate. It's not a lot but it might pay for a lunch or two. :)
