HELP!!!! computer question

I need some help here. My computer is playing commericals! That's right, commercials and I don't know how to stop it. It just started playing these yesterday. The only thing I've done differently is download a game onto my computer, but the funny thing is...I've had this game on my computer before and this never happened. I don't know what to do. Can anyone offer up some advice?

I would run your virus scan program and follow with a spy ware removal program just to be sure!

If you have SP2, go to microsoft.com and download windows defender. It's a great program.

You have certainly been infected with malware. Run any virus scan and then run 2 or 3 different malware/spyware/adware programs. Microsoft has a free one, but I would invest in a second and even third one. We use PCSafe...I think it is $19.99/year. It removes a lot of stuff, but no 1 program is going to get everything everytime.

Good luck! Hate to say this, but I have seen pc's so infected that the only thing to do is rebuild from scratch. But it is keeping a lot of so-so computer businesses in the money, unfortunately!

Thanks for the ideas. I ran my anti-virus and didn't come up with anything, now I'm going to download my spy sweeper that I just got. Thanks again.

If you have Win XP, you may want to do a system restore back to a date before the problem occurred. You won't lose any data, but the offending program should be purged.
