Hey all,

First of all, I wanted to thank all of you who helped me out for our last trip. We just went and my mom needed an ECV because of a recent illness. You guys gave some great tips and I really appreciate it.

Now on to my question. We are going back in November and staying at the OLCC for the week. My mom wants to stay on for two extra nights so we are going to put her up at a Disney resort (she will not have a car). I need advice on which one.

Here are some factors....first, she will have an ECV again. Second, when she vacations, she has one basic requirement- cleanliness. Well, that covers all Disney resorts. We are not looking for pool, restaurants, theming, etc.

So it really comes down to which resort with an ECV. She'd be fine at a Value resort but I have read on the boards that using a bus with an ECV is a big pain in the butt! I realize the CR would be the best, but it is sooooo much more money.

Is it the Contemporary- Garden Wing at $775 for 2 nights?
Is it the POFQ standard room at $370 for 2 nights?
Or is it POP in a preferred location for $250?

THANKS!

P.S. This info might help..... Mom is going to EPCOT on Sunday and then on Monday she is going to MGM to see the Christmas lights and then back to MK for MVMCP. She is leaving Tuesday morning.

Why not have her stay at the BC/YC (or other EPCOT resort) - she'll be able to go to EPCOT and MGM without using a bus, and she can even go on the monorail from EPCOT to MK.

Hi,

I just checked BC and it would be $990! I'd rather be at the CR for that money. I do love the YC/BC though. What a resort.

Will she be by herself (your post gives me that impression), or will someone be with her. If she is by herself, the Contemporary would probably be the easiest.

But, on the other hand, the buses really aren't that bad. The new ramp buses allow you to drive the ECV right onto the bus, no lift "hassles." But it would b nice to have someone traveling with her at the bus resorts.

IMHO you'll be very cramped "parking" the ECV in the value rooms.

Keep in mind that the GF HA rooms have push button entry that hold the doors open automatically. If she'll be without someone to hold those doors open, this might be priceless.

As the need appears to be for distances a HA room would not be needed and should only be used by a person who needs the accessibility features in the room.

When travelling alone I always have two choices when using an ECV.

One is when entering turn the ECV point on to the door, reach forward to unlock it and then drive the ECV making the door open. To get out I would drive to the door, grasp the handle with one hand, and drive in reverse until there is enough space to get out.

The other option is to get off the ECV, open the door and put a small doorstop in place, drive through, and then remove the doorstop.

Thanks all for your input. I decided to go with the value or mod. My mom can walk short distances and we are just going to rent the ECV once at the parks for those two days. Then she'll have no problem with and ECV and the buses.

My mom could probably walk from the farthest room at POFQ or POP since they are relatively smaller resorts.

Thanks again!:goodvibes
