Pop Century Preferred Room or Port Orleans French Quarter?

Pro's for each:

Pop Century - Skyliner, theming of the hotel cool for a first time trip, more cost efficient

POFQ - smaller foot print resort, ceiling fan (i overheat quickly), one bus stop, boat to Disney Springs, hot tub, access to POR pools

Con's for each:

Pop Century - Smaller rooms, large footprint resort (especially if you do not get preferred room), ive heard negatives about the skyliner lines in the mornings

POFQ - more expensive than POP

a little information about our trip..

this is our first Disney vacation, this is also our first EVER vacation as a family. It's 1 adult 3 teens ages 14, 15, 16 at time of travel

we are looking at going in May of 2026 (still trying to narrow down a date range as well as determine if i want to stay for longer than 7 days) (ideally 7-10 days)

which is what makes choosing a hotel difficult, if want to stay longer then POP makes the most sense with more park days, if i choose 7 days then we would do 5 park days, one for each park and one for us to go back to the one we enjoyed the most.

i am working with a travel agent but i would love some advise from people who have been in my shoes and have stayed at these resorts.

I would choose Pop but we absolutely love the Skyliner. I have a hard time getting my family to choose any resort that doesn’t have Skyliner access.

Pop also has just one bus stop. You could do a split stay if you're are torn and can’t decide. If you did that plan your HS and Epcot days while you are at Pop.

I say go for Port Orleans. Pop Century is great but right now it’s in a refurb, so you’ll be settling in to the sounds of Mickey and Minnie’s contractors, and some pretty cool tools.

I’m not sure how big the POFQ rooms are. The Pop rooms are going to be tight if you spend a lot of time in the room.

You mentioned that it’s your 1st real family vacation (congratulations!) and that you’ll be traveling with three teens. Will they be okay sharing a bed? Maybe you can watch some videos to get a feel for the room layout.

The less expensive rooms at Pop are far from the central area, so farther from food. You might want to keep some snacks in the room to avoid anyone getting hangry. And if you are a coffee drinker, check to see if they have machines in the room now. They didn’t when we stayed there, which was a VERY unhappy realization for me that first morning.

noted, kids are ok sharing a bed thankfully, i am leaning towards a resort that has a fifth sleeper capability but im not even sure where to start with that, i know the rooms at Pop are smaller than the rooms at POFQ which could potentially be problem, i dont want to feel like sardines stuffed in a can for a long trip, any other suggestions that could be more spacious?

I know you were asking this question the other day with different resorts.
Based on how long you're planning to stay I stick by my original suggestion from the other day of going with an All Star Music Family Suite.
Its going to give you a little more room to spready out.
Plus with you having some mobility issues the suites are close to the main building and at the parks the All Stars bus stops are definitely closer than POP and they have multiple lined up at the end of the night.

It’s been awhile but we have stayed at both. If you have some down days, POFQ will have more of a resort feel. If it’s all parks every day, then I’d say go with POP.

Either way you’ll have a lovely stay.

You can’t go wrong. I’d watch a video of each and choose which appeals most to you. Disney vacations are as much emotional for me than practical. The “feeling” of a resort is more important than where it is.

Why not get the best of both worlds with Caribbean Beach - you get the best skyliner access of any resort, access to 6 pools, plus you they have rooms with a 5th sleeper available. May be a marginaly more $ than POFQ but in the ballpark

See I had heard good things about Caribbean Beach. The only downside I can see is it is a large resort and I have some mobility issues and we won’t be driving.

Yes its MASSIVE and I would not recommend it especially with mobility issues but honestly its so big I don't recommend it to anyone.
