Here is my dilemma, I already have ressies for Chef Mickey's for dinner during out stay in a few weeks, BUT I just read all the negatives about Chef Mickey's and am again freaking out. I already did this once with the Garden Grill, I quickly canceld our ressies there and got new ones at Alfredo's. I was trying to do as many character dinners for my daughter as I could, but on the other hand I want GOOD food. I mean it doesn't have to be wonderful, but edible would be good. So PLEASE someone help me with this, do I cancel Chef Mickey's and go with O'hana or continue with my original plan? All input would be great, thanks. :confused3

I think you'll be very pleased dining at O'Hana's. ::yes:: Also, if you get a PS time about an hour & a half prior to the fireworks, you can go out to the beach and watch them from there. Also, you can see the Electrical Water Parade. Dined here before and it was great. :cheer2: We were very pleased with the food & the service. :thewave:

Wish I could say the same for Chef Mickey's. Tried dinner there once and never again. Worst meal on property. The food & the service were awful. :crazy2: Total waste of money.

Instead of 'Ohanna why not go to somewhere like Liberty Tree Tavern, there are good characters there and there is good food. Crystal Palace also gets good reviews for food and characters.

I was also going to suggest Liberty Tree Tavern. We absolutely love LTT for food and characters and also love the convenience of being right inside the Magic Kingdom. Although I have to say we have eaten at Chef Mickey's twice, (once for dinner) and were very happy both times with food and service. You can really drive yourself crazy with reviews sometimes! I look at this way, I have seen movies many times that I loved even though they got horrible reviews. Character meals are really not about the food and your daughter would surely love seeing Mickey and the gang. On the other hand if you are really worried about it, peace of mind is great too! I know some people have had really awful experiences there but some like myself have had the opposite.

Hi, we ate at Chef Mickey's this past monday and it was good. There was a good selection of food and it was tasty, the desserts were excellent. Service was prompt. I think my favorite character buffet was at 1900 Park Fare, the food was better than Chef Mickey's.

Personally, Character meals for kids is not about the food...it is about the characters. When it domes to the parents it's a combination of the food and seeing you child getting excited about meeting that special character.

Select a character meal based upon the characters that your kids want to see. Reviews placed on the board are not a black and white subject. People have different expectations, taste and sometimes an unusual experience.

We have experienced the character meals at in order of enjoyment (2 preschool girls):
1900 Park Fare Dinner (Cinderella, Mice, Prince Charming)
Crystal Palace Lunch (Pooh, Tiger, Piglet, Eyeore)
Chef Mickey's Breakfast
Ohanas
Chef Mickey's Dinner (very noisy)

Thanks everyone for your help on this one. I already have reservations for Crystal Palace, so that one is already in the agenda. I also have ressies for 1900 Park Fare, so I guess at this point it's just putting my own mind to rest. I've scheduled all the dinners for my whole family for this trip (my parents, dbf, dd and myself) so I guess I have this feeling that if the food isn't good they are all going to be blaming me. I just hate being the one making all the decisions on my own. :confused3

We have had dinner at CM twice in our last 4 visits and both times it has been good. In June 2004 we took DH's extended family and everyone had a great time and they all enjoyed the food. I don't really know if it matters but we always get the first seating. CM is also a great way to get to meet the Mouse ::MickeyMo Just remember that everybody's experiences are different. I have read lots of positive reviews about Donald's Breakfastosaurus--we tried it and did not have a very good experience but other people love it and it is a must do for them every trip. On the other hand, I have read lots of negative things about Alfredo's but we tried it this past June in spite of all I had read and it was actually pretty good. Different strokes for different folks :sunny: Good luck with your decision :flower:

Chef Mickey's has always been one of our favorites to start the whole Disney experience off with!! I hope it hasn't went downhill! We are planning on eating there in March. It's a fabulous place for the kids and adults. You'd love it I bet!!!

I couldn't decide between Chef Mickey's and O'hana's so we are going to do both. I'm sure that we will have a good time, just like most of the people out there.

I like to go and pick out my own food, so I like buffet (Chef Mickey's.) When we were younger and went to Ohana's, my little sister was asked to joing the dance line going around the restaurant--and she HATED it--she doesn't like to have attention drawn to her. So just a little heads up!

Go to Ohana's without a doubt! Chef Mickeys is superb but not for dinner...more so for breakfast. I have ONLY heard good things about Ohanas! Have fun! :goodvibes

Does Ohana's have characters for dinner too? Thanks! :earsboy:

We ate at Chef Mickey's in Oct., and had a blast. Food was good, and interaction with the characters was so much fun. I can't speak on behalf of O'Hana, as we've yet to eat there.
