Hello! I am writing to ask help from those of you in the NW Ohio area. We are from Cincinnati. I was planning on a girls weekend to Paramount's Carowinds in NC in a couple of weeks. However, I also got slapped in the face with a HUGE financial and emotional burden last night, leaving me with little extra money.

I think it would be beneficial to still have said 'girls weekend'. Cedar Point is only about 3.5-4 hours from us, so I thought it would be more "do-able". We'd only have to stay maybe a night or so.....

Was I wrong! I knew the admission would be a significant chunk, since we wouldnt have had ANY admission at PCarowinds (Kings Island passholders)... but it's not just that. The hotels in the Sandusky area are outrageous compared to those in the Carolinas.

Any idea on where I could find discount admission, or better yet, good hotel deals? Breaker Express is too even on the expensive side right now.... and I already know about the Pepsi cans and Meijer.

Thanks in advance, from a desperate DISer :sad2:

Have you checked into a package deal at Breakers Express? A friend and I went in June and got a great deal!!! Maybe go in the off season. Rooms will be cheaper, lines will be shorter and it will give you some extra time to save some $$.

Last year I bought some passes off of ebay for a good deal as well.

I hope everything works out for you :flower:

We bought our tickets from AAA when we went there 2 years ago. It was at a reduced cost, but I can't remember what it ran. We just booked out room separate, so I can't help there.

I got tickets from AAA as well... I think they were about $32 each (adult). Hotels will NOT be cheap in the area. A slightly run down Days Inn cost around $80/night. I would see about maybe priceline for a hotel then as long as you don't mind driving to and from CP :)

There are several Sandusky hotels with shuttle service to CP. We stayed at a CP hotel and got our tickets for $33 each. If you buy at Meijer you get $10 off weekday admission or $7 off weekend admission. Credit unions often have deals as well.
Have you considered having your weekend at Kings Island if you have passes? Just spend the $ you have on a nice hotel room for the girls.

I can't help as far as hotels, since when I go we just drive up for the day. My friends and I definitely found the best deal for tickets... we discovered that with a valid Buck ID, you can get up to four tickets through Ohio State for $25 each. If you happen to know anyone who attends OSU, you might want to ask them if they could buy tickets for you. If not, we've gotten tickets through AAA in the past for less than $35.

Thank you all so much for your replies! My mom, sister and I got to spend the weekend together last week and had a blast! :)

Meijer stores sell discount tickets.
Also...... at the beginning of the summer, I think that Pepsi cans had a discount on CP.
Have a great time :)
