A red soda got spilled on my Berber carpet yesterday and I didn't see it until this morning. The carpet is a very very light beige. I've already tried Resolve carpet spray, but it hasn't helped at all. Everyone here always has great suggestions....so what do you recommend I try next? The stain isn't in a place in the room where it can be covered by furniture either.

If you are willing to spend about $150, I'd buy a Bissell Spotbot with Oxy Gen2 cleaner - you can get both at Target. Oxy Gen2 (by oxyclean) cleaner works miracles on pet stains, and I imagine it could at least improve the red soda stain (even if it can't get it all the way out). The Spotbot is helpful because it'll scrub the stain and then suck up all the excess liquid so the stain doesn't spread. I'd recommend using the Spotbot several times and perhaps doing the Resolve spray a few more times. It may not get the carpet looking like new again, but it should put a significant dent in the stain. Test the Oxy Gen2 on a hidden area of the carpet first just to make sure it doesn't damage the carpet.

The best stain remover we have used is Spot Shot. You can get it at Walmart, Target, Sam's, etc. We also have light carpeting and 2 kids and a dog. So we use it quite frequently!

Good luck.

Try using shaving cream. Put some on the spot and rub it in, then wipe it up with a damp cloth. You may need to do it a couple of times, but I removed a red wine stain from carpet this way. The only problem is the spot ends up very clean compared to the rest of the carpet. :rotfl2:

Try Scrubbing Bubbles foam spray for bathrooms. It has gotten red stains out of carpet for us before.

Rent a carpet cleaner at Home Depot or Lowe's. Even my local grocery store chain rents them.

Winna winna, chicken dinna:thumbsup2

I own a Bissell Steam Cleaner, but we use Scrubbin' Bubbles for spot cleans. It works as well as Spot Shot from my comparison. It gets red out just as well.

I second the Spot Shot. I have five kids and have used this stuff for many years. My sister has white carpet and is very anal about keeping it white. Well one of my kids threw up cheetos on her white carpet and I thought we were going to have to replace it. Spot Shot worked like magic!

If these things don't work you can always really fix it as long as you have extra carpet. You can try doing a Google search on this. You'll need an Exacto knife and some sort of glue.

Good luck.

I dont know if you can do this with just any carpet- so test an extra piece if you have one. But i have berber carpet and i use bleach and water in a spray bottle and it has worked for everything (including red soda) except fingernail polish. With three little ones its been the best thing ever. Not sure how good it is for the carpet but i have done it for prob three years and its still looks great! My carpet is very light beige also. For all over clean i use the bissel Pro heat multi surface carpet cleaner. love it!

DS used to to work for a carpet cleaning company. He says use vinegar, make sure you blot it out, don't rub.

I second the shaving cream. It works wonders. If you are worried about the carpet being lighter use shaving cream without bleach. If you don't have that just be sure not to scrub too hard. My mom cleaned her very dirty dining room chairs with shaving cream and they came very clean. The only problem was she used the stuff with bleach and scrubbed way too hard with a scrub brush that it took much of the color out of her blue and white plaid fabric. The upside is that her chairs are now very clean and dirt free. I have used shaving cream on my chairs and carpet with no problems I am just careful not to scrub too hard. My carpet is a light brown but not quite beige.

You can also try Capture - is a moist powder carpet cleaner - works wonderful. Available in Home Depot/Lowes.

I use oxyclean! The powdered kind, mix in very hot water, squirt or pour on stain, blot until it is gone! This even worked on red lipstick! I also use it in my Bissell Pro Heat carpet cleaner. I have also successfully used simple green. Try a section that doesn't show first like behind your couch to test.

I have found the best stuff just recently!! We moved into a rental house that has white carpet  Why, is beyond me!! Lol Anyway, we have four kids and two dogs, and so far this stuff has gotten up everything!!

It is called OUT! stain and odor remover. You get it in the pet section at walmart. It only costs $3.97 a bottle and it works fantastic!!

I have gotten blue and red italian ice, puke, pop, pee, choclate milk, and stains that were on it before we even moved in out of the carpet with this stuff. The house sat empty for almost a year and it still got the old stains out.

This stuff is a life saver!

I agree! :thumbsup2 Spot Shot removed red gatorade from a white couch cushion in our beach condo one year. We had guests and instead of someone telling us immediately, they flipped over the couch cushion and we didn't find it until we went to make up DS's bed for the night. It came out and you couldn't even tell that it was ever there! :goodvibes
