Does anyone know if there is anything i can do. I booked a condo for 5 nights in January cost was $800. I put down a $100 deposit by paypal. I did fill out a contract in which i had to give out credit card # but didnt pay full balance on it and had until June 24 to pay for the balance. It is only May 20 so i was giving over 3 months cancellation. In contract is said if cancelled i would be charged 20%. When i called to cancel the owner is trying to charge me the $59 additional. I tried talking to her for about 5 minutes that i did give her well over 60 days (3 months) but i guess she doesnt want to hear that. Is there any way out of paying this $59 now?? She was going to charge my credit card but i told her not to at the moment. If i told her to do so and then called credit card company to fight the charge would this be a way out of this??? Funny thing is her availability schedule for August is not even full and had two open weeks (one week before and one week after we were supposed to stay. I mentioned this to her but her comeback was "this is high season and alot of people book this time"

If the contract says cancellation fee is 20% no matter when you cancel, you owe her $60. That's what contracts are for. If you don't like the terms, don't agree to them. You won't win this in a credit card dispute.

I sometimes rent out my Gatlinburg, Tybee Island and Orlando timeshare weeks. I have a contract that I think is fair to the renter and also to me. It's a lot of hassle to rent units and these are not like hotel rooms.

Unless there is a time frame in the contract for when you may cancel at no expense you are out of luck. Especially since the weeks before and after are NOT booked. If the prior and post weeks were booked there would be a better chance of the person re renting your dates. Since there are so many openings the renter is having a hard time earning rent money this summer. Sorry.

If you dispute this, the credit card company will rule in her favor if she sends them a copy of the contract.

I don't think you have a choice. You agreed to what the contract said (which I actually think is fair). Sorry... :guilty:

If you have trip cancellation or interruption insurance and depending on the reason for cancelling you may be able to make a claim through that.
