help calm my waitlist fears

I just waitlisted TODAY for a 2 bedroom at SSR for 12/4 and 12/6. We have 12/5 and 12/7 to 12/16 (dropping 16 if 4 and/or 6 comes through).

Please, please, please tell me that chances are good that at least the 6th will come through. I thought that single days may be easier to get, but I'm already worried - can't imagine what I'll be like a month from now if the waitlist hasn't happened. If the 6th doesn't come through, we'll either need to shorten vacation or find a place to stay??????

Call me crazy, but I waitlisted for OKW and BWV (2nd to 15th OR 4th to 16th) last week. These were our first choices, but I figured getting a waitlist to come through on long weeks like that, busiest DVC time of year, popular but small resorts, would be slim to none. Just went for it "just in case".

My DM and DH do NOT want to risk changing resorts during the stay, that's why I did the whole time frame as one ressie.

At this point, I'm "counting on" SSR for the 4th and 6th to come through. This will cancel the BWV and OKW waitlists, but I can always add them back on.

So, what do you think? Good chances that the 4th and 6th at SSR will open up? No chance and am waisting my time on BWV and OKW in a big chunk of time like that?

I think you have a really good chance of getting your waitlist to come through at SSR for both the 4th and 6th. You might also have a good chance of getting OKW to come through for the entire time.

The BWV is a long-shot, but you never know what happens and it doesn't hurt to try.

On the minus side, you are going when a lot of other DVCer's are going.

On the plus side, SSR is a large DVC resort and there are a number of people who are cancelling their reservations to go to AKV in December.

I am going to venture a guess and say that I think that you will get it.

I think you'll get it. A lot of people go ahead and book that period since it's so hard to get but sometimes they end up not being able to go.

I'm still worried. No waitlist opening yet. Yes, it hasn't been that long but this is the first time for waitlisting for me.

I just booked airfare for the 4th!!!! The price was good and I can always exchange the tickets, but I hope I won't have to.

Anyone getting waitlist openings for December yet?

I'm also interested to see if there has been much movement yet for those first two weeks in December.

This is the longest I've had to stay on a wait-list yet.

I make my reservations at 11 months out at my home resort (SSR-2br) and then waitlist at 7 months out.

In 2005 I waitlisted for VWL and BCV for the 1st week of December. Within one week we had a 2br at VWL but I stayed on the waitlist for BCV. Within three weeks of that (a total of 1month on the waitlist) I had a dedicated 2br (with 2queen beds) at BCV.

In 2006 I did the same thing but for the week of Thanksgiving and only waitlisted for a 2br at BWV(boardwalk view) and VWL. VWL came through first and then BWV (boardwalk view) came through within six weeks.

This year, I didn't call the morning my 7 month window opened to waitlist. I typically have in the past (it was my DD's birthday that day and I forgot to call until the next day). I'm waitlisted (for 12/9 - 12/14) at VWL, BCV, and BWV and none of them have come through yet (that's at six weeks out). Plus, I thought that there would be some movement once AKV opened up reservations....but nothing (at least not for us).

I'm starting to get a bit nervous, though. I've typically heard back from them by now. I'm guessing that waiting that extra day to call in the waitlist has cost me a slot or two (or more) at one of the other resorts.

But I still have over 5 months. I'm hoping that some movement happens as we near the 31days out (the last time to cancel without penalty).

Here's to hoping for the both of us!....and all the rest that are waiting!

I will be freaking out by 31 days out. Currently, we have no reservations 12/4, but have plane tickets. We're ok for the 5th, but no reservations for the 6th. I really didn't think it would be a big deal. WHEN the 4th and 6th come through, I'm cancelling our ressie for the 16th. I was really hoping to know we're coming back on the 15th before buying return tickets!!!!! I'll wait for a while, but I will need to nail something down around 3 months out.

Do you know if they hold openings for those who just buy into DVC? I wonder when they release those.

I, too, thought AKV would get some waitlists to come through.

You may have to wait until 31 days out when some of the R/Ters on the R/T board can't sell that reservation that they have and so they cancel it at the last minute. It could open up some places.

I booked my preferred studio at BWV for Dec 6-10 back in January. But, about 3 weeks later, I decided to try to add from the 10th to the 12th...so I waitlisted. I was able to get a standard studio, so it looks like I may have to move but at least it's in the same resort. Still waitlisted for anything at BW in a studio that will keep in the one room, rather than move. We'll see, but I don't hold out too muc hope.
