DD (9) announced last night that the ONLY thing she wants is a Wii for Xmas. It appears that almost all of them are $199 and I know HHGregg has a $30 rebate, but what comes with the basic Wii and what more do I need to buy? My understanding is that it comes with 1 remote, so we need another and it comes with some games on it already, but we will need more.

Please HELP and FAST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks - Diane:confused3:confused3:confused3:confused3:confused3

I just bought ours for Christmas and it came w/1 remote and the sports games on it. There is tennis, baseball, bowling, golf and boxing (might be forgetting a game). We have 3 kids, so we need to get 2 more remotes and we've bought several games to go with it.

I saw Walmart has a bundle of the Wii w/Super Mario Bros. game for $250, which I wish I would have waited for since that was my favorite game growing up, but oh well!

I need to know what batteries it takes so I can make sure we have enough. Can anyone tell me?

The Wii remotes take AA batteries. I also suggest Wii Sports Resort and Mario Kart Wii. Those are our current favorite games. I also think that renting games is VERY helpful in finding out which games you like before you buy. There have been a few games that I have wanted to buy, but rented them first and boy, glad we did!! I'm not sure if the offer is still available...but Amazon had the remote and nunchuk covers on sale for a penny, plus shipping of maybe $2.50.

You will want a second controler right away. If your child has a lot of friends who come over, you'll want to eventually get more (4 total). If you buy Mario Kart, get enough wheels for each controler (wheels are not nessesary but it's a lot more fun to have them). You will also want Knunckucks for each controler as some games it is required (Including some of the Wii Sport activities).

I would invest in some rechargable batteries, the controlers don't eat through them too badly but you'll go through them enough that it will be worth the investment. Each controler takes 2 AA's.

Games run $40 to $50, you may want to invest in a Game Fly subscription. Works just like Netflix, but for video games. This will allow to play a game and decide if you like it or not before buying it. It also lets you play a game until you're sick of it, and then send it back and get a different one.

Disney's Toy Story Mania for Wii is based on the attraction at Hollywood Studios. We have the game and it is a lot of fun.

I wouldn't even invest in rechargeable batteries...get a Wiimote charger for the remotes. When you're done playing, just stick the Wiimotes in the charger. It's also a great way to keep up with the remotes. To me, this is a lot easier than removing the batteries every time you need to charge them.

We got a wii last year for christmas. Alls we bought extra was an extra wiimote and an extra nunchuck. We haven't got the charger yet although i think it might be nice.

We got oldest DS mariokart wii for christmas this year and also bought an extra wheel for it. I agree about trying the games out before buying. They are so expensive you want to make sure they are liked first. We have about 5 games and wii sports probably gets played the most.
