Help buying a reputable pin lot

Ok, I have done a lot of reading on these boards and clearly there are some less than reputable sellers out there. I have done some searching on ebay for some of the sellers who get positive feedback on these boards, but it seems like most are selling individual pins, or small coordinated sets.

I am really looking for a good starter set to take with us next month for my two DDs (5 and 8). They will likely trade them all and will not really care what they are, but I need a lot of at least 20 or so. And honestly, I can not spend a fortune as these are just for little kids to have some fun, not for real collectibles.

Can anyone recommend a good source for getting a pin lot with a variety of designs? I tried the disney store with no luck, and I said, most recommended sellers on ebay were selling individual pins which is just too costly and time consuming since I do not really care which pins they are.

Thanks! JJ

Hi there,

I just went though this exact thing. I compiled this list: http://disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2141715 from the information in another e-bay thread.

I hope this helps. It was a lot to sift through.

I trust the lot I got from retiredreadingspecialist, as the pins I got were just as advertised in the picture. I had less luck with another lot from the recommended list that was a 'grab bag' (which I prefer, as it's exciting!). That is one seller I would recommend.

I have purchased two lots of pins from vip blast. When I look them up on pin pics none of the pins are listed as potential scrappers or bootlegs, I've also checked them out on two links Ive found listing known scrappers/bootlegs and none of the pins I purchased are listed there

http://www.dizpins.com/pinventory/scrappers.htm
I realise they could still potentially be scrappers but for a beginner like me, I feel pretty confident that they are not

Thanks! I actually went through your list but did not find many sellers who had lots, just individuals. I did find a lot from retiredreadingspecialist, but I was worried b/c they were listed as those cast lanyard/hidden mickeys that seem to be so problematic. I will keep looking though and see if more comes up.

Has anyone else used this seller? I looked on ebay and there was good feedback. The listing says no propins or sedesma, but it does include the dreaded cast lanyards. Any thoughts?

I would buy again with confidence from retiredreadingspecialist. Yes, there are some on the cast lanyard list. As I said in another thread "...one thing that stinks about the scrappers is that most scrappers are Cast Lanyard pins, which cannot be purchased from the kiosks and can only be traded. Therefore, any time you get a cast Lanyard pin, you take the chance of it being a scrapper."

I had the chance to check 2 of my pins against the 2 sellers I bought from. Both sent me Mowgli and a monorail pin. When looking at the pins together, it was obvious to me that the ones I got from the above seller were the real deal, while the color and bars were different in the pins from the other lot.

That gave me something to notice when I started checking other pins. Of the ones I got from retiredreadingspecialist, I will not trade 2 (possibly 3, I'm checking into one). 2 out of 40 is pretty good considering how many fake pins there are in the parks.

I purchased from VIP Blast over a year ago, got the pins and was excited and then found out they were fakes....notified the seller who refunded my mone in full and told me to keep the pins, they asked me how I knew and I explained and they promptly replied with a Thank You and note that they had removed ALL the bad pins they had traded for from their auctions. I gave them positive feedback and then promptly forgot about them! lol I have not purchased since that time I would again and in fact I'm going to find them because I got such great service from them last time. Thanks for reminding me! As for lots, I tend to stay away from them now, I would rather buy singles then chance getting all the scrappers in the lots.

So you feel confident in them that they weren't just yessing you about getting rid of all the fakes? FWIW, they are selling lots for $1.89 a pin (pick your own quantity) which seems quite low. ugh, who knew this would be so complicated!

hmmm, that does seem low.....I would have to check them out again, I didn't have time to do so this weekend so I'll get to that tonight....Thanks for the info, I will come back and let you know how I feel about them now. :)

I just got 25 from Vipblast and am doing some research to check them all out. Out of 25 only 6 are hidden mickey pins. I'll let you know what I conclude and check back here for any info as well :)

I just bought a lot of 50 pins from the ebay seller nannub. You need to order at least 25 I believe. They were 1.40 each with free shipping. Now I have to be honest, I buy them so we can trade them- they advertise no Sedesma, propins, euro, etc.- but other than that I don't really care if they are hidden Mickey, cast lanyard etc. It's just a fun thing for my kids to do when we go.

The pins were great- all with their Mickey pin backs- and came within a few days of ordering them. I was very happy with this seller and would recommend them- they all have all positive feedback- a very difficult this to get nowadays!

I checked my against pinpics and out of all 25 I only have 1 that had a scrapper warning (one of the hidden Mickey ones) and one other one that I don't feel good about (The colors are off from the pinpics picture and description). I'll inform the seller, but I don't think there is any way to tell if the one is a scrapper or what is the deal with the other one, but considering that 23/25 were good, I'd say I'd buy from vipblast again.

I just purchased 20 pins from VIP Blast after receiving a recommendation from another board. I haven't gotten the pins yet but I'm not even sure what I would be looking for as far as scrappers or untradable pins.(we're kinda new at the whole pin thing!) As soon as I get them though, I'll let everyone know what we ended up with if anyone is interested in buying from them.

A quick question - We're just planning on trading with the CMs at DL this summer. Are there certain pins (i.e. scrappers) that they can't trade. And if so, how would I know?

Can someone link me to a VIP Blast page? I did a search but for whatever reason I can't find it.......

I know who it is, I've purchased from them before. I was checking their page for another poster on this thread. I thought I'd put them in my faves but apparently not. I did search for them on eBay but came up with nothing. So, hence my question here.....

I sent it to you in PM since I didn't know if I could post an e-bay link.

Just an update, vipblast responded back and said they'd replace the two I wasn't happy with, and asked me to explain to them what was wrong so they'd know. I thought that was pretty decent :)

That is just what they did with me. They seem to be very good sellers. I received pins today from Sleepys and man oh man are they nice!!!! Very impressed with the way they were packed and the quality of pins. I am definitely a fan of Sleepys!!! I also received pins from thewill, they seem to be great quality as well.

I just got my 20 pin lot from VIP Blast yesterday and while most of them look official, there are about 3 that look questionable. They have silver backs and are quite a bit lighter than the other ones. They are hidden Mickey pins so I'm wondering if they are legit.

Tyr23 go to pinpics.com and search for the pins, see what it says there.
