I don't know if this is the right place to ask, but I can't seem to find the info. anywhere. I'm hoping someone can help. Does anyone know, if you take a bus (day tour busses that include admission to Universal Studios), what time does it leave universal to return to your hotel? I'm wondering if we should rent a car for the day, if going by bus leaves too little time at the park. :confused3

Generally, most tour companies have you return to their bus around 5 for the return to your hotel. (Which can take an extra 2 hours depending on your location.) Most pickups are at 9 and also allow about 2 hours to get to US.

In June 2001, we took a bus that was actually provided by Universal from Anaheim to the Studios. (A 'free' service they no longer have...if you bought a full-price ticket they would bus you to the park.) We were told to be back on the bus by 4 and thought we were getting ripped off. We managed to ride/see everything twice (except T2 which the wife didn't want to see.) and were exhausted by the time it was ready to go.

This is one of the better tour companies I've found: http://www.starlinetours.com

You can contact them and find out exactly how long you get in the park.

Has anyone ever done the Universal Studios/Hollywood tour? I was just wondering what the hours would be for this tour. Which part of the tour do you do first?

My husband and I were at Disneyland exactly one month ago. We used a tour company named VIP Tours. You can either just get transportation thru them ($35 USD/adult return) or you can get the trans/ticket combo ($76USD/adult return). They picked use up at our hotel at 9am then took us to a central location to pay and board our bus. I believe we got to Universal just before 11am. They picked us back up a half hour or an hour (can't remember) after Universal closed. But this gave us more then enough time to explore the City Walk right next to Universal. It was a full day and we got to do everything we wanted to and still had time to kill. Granted it was the off season. They then dropped us off right at our hotel door. They also do a Universal Studios and LA by Night tour ($82USD/adult return) I believe those people got picked up at around the same time as us. Hope this helps.

Thanks all for the input. I think I'll opt for the bus as it seems we'll have enough time at the park. One travel agency said the bus picks up at 6:30 pm to return to the hotel. The park closes at 7, so I'm sure we'll be plenty ready to leave by then!

Go by Bus!! That drive to Universal is a BEAR! It's one of the reasons that I rarely go there anymore.
