My DS's bus driver is retiring. The last day of school, and his last day on the job will be Monday. His very last stop on his very last route will be my house. What should I do? Any ideas. This is very last minute and I should have put more thought into this earlier, but I just located my head to replace on my shoulders this morning;)

I would probably make a giftcard holder- maybe in the shape of a bus and add in a giftcard to somewhere like Starbucks (or whatever you have nearby).

I was thinking some homemade cookies if he knows you pretty good

how about making a big sign with "Thanks for the Rides" on it too!

Have a camera handy? My thought would be to take a photo of the driver at the wheel (you know, like from the bus door area). Being me, I'd squeeze off about three shots to make sure I got one good one! Then you could enlarge it and put it into a frame for the driver. (Be sure to exchange phone numbers or whatever so you can hand it off when it is ready.)

I made this last night (I covered the other kids faces because they are not mine, so ignore the red paper). It is about 10 inches wide. I thought we would then give him some type of treat (cookies, cupcakes, or something). I was also thinking about balloons, sign, confetti poppers when he pulls up to our driveway?? We will have a camera ready for sure! We have really loved this bus driver. My DS is special needs, and he works great with the kids!

that turned out very cute
have you check with the others on the route & see if they wanted to join in?? tell the bus driver to drop off the kids that could at your house (for a party - no saying it is for him) if the parents will be there only

Most of the parents I know on the route will not be home from work yet. The kids have an older sibling at home that gets them off the bus? I am going to be pushing it to make it home too, because it is the last day of school! I have a lot of packing to do to my classroom. I wish I would have thought of this earlier? :upsidedow

Very cute! Lovely job! It is nice to have things on hand when needed for a quick card/gift.
