I need some breakfast ideas because my current breakfast routine is boring me to tears. For those on WW, I like to keep my breakfast under 5 points and would love to have some new ideas. Usually for breakfast I will eat Whole Wheat Eggo's or Lite White bread with peanut butter and sometimes I will have a bowl of cereal, but not often because it doesn't hold me long enough. I have tried Egg Beaters too, but I am getting tired of them. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Don't know if you have it in Italy, but Kashi Go Lean Crunch is awesome 3 points for a cup, but a cup is a lot- since it's high in protein and fiber it holds me longer than most cereals. I also have used breakfast cereal bars, special K is 2 points, but they don't hold me long. One of my fav's though is to take 4 oz. cottage cheese and mix with 4 oz. of low-fat lite yogurt.

It's filling, got a good dose of protein and is 3 points. You could add some berries or other fruit to it too! Oatmeal and a big cup of tea is a great one too. The tea expands the oatmeal to make you feel fuller longer.

Hope some of those appeal to you!:)

OATMEAL OATMEAL OATMEAL! :) I don't know how many points it is, but add some dried fruit (tbsp raisins or dried cranberries) and it tastes YUM-YUMMITY! I also like it with half a banana smashed in!

I don't suppose you have any English Muffins over there, do you? ;) Maybe you can come up with a low-point Egg McMuffin?

I hated oatmeal, but that's because I was using instant. I like the real kind that you have to simmer for like 10 minutes. I also found some great whole grain cereals too. Oatmeal or a multi grain cereal with raisins is my favorite breakfast now and I am FULL for hours after I eat it!

Good luck, Debbi!

The ZonePerfect bars taste very good and I would not expect they are very high point values. They keep me full until lunch. Also, oatmeal with a scoop of vanilla protein powder gives it enough punch to hold me too. I believe you can get them from Hi-Health's web site and they will ship them over.

Another oatmeal eater here! I don't mind the instant, but I prefer to make it myself. I usually add some cinnamon, a little brown sugar and some chopped walnuts. Very good and always holds me over longer than any other breakfast food.

I also like Wonder Lite wheat bread with low fat peanut butter, honey and wheat germ sprinkled on top (lots of fiber and filling too). That and 1/2 c. of low fat yogurt is a good breakfast on-the-go.

I second the Kashi Go Lean the combo of protien and high fiber a 1/2 cup stays with me all morning. Also I like 1 point English Muffins, 1/4 cup egg beater and 2% cheese and I make my own version of an Egg McMuffin. Since the english muffin is high fiber and the egg beater is protein it also sticks with me all morning. Sometimes I do fresh fruit and yogart, but there isn't enough fiber in it to keep me full all morning so I need to plan a mid morning snack.

Thanks for the ideas! I am curious about the oatmeal gang, I made it once from a canister of Quaker Oats and they were horrible, perhaps I am not doing it right. I do buy the instant for DS, it is his favorite breakfast, but I am not sure the instant is for me.

I will check my store tomorrow for the Kashi Go Lean, but being at a military installation store, I doubt they will have it. I already checked for the lite English Muffins, but no go on those, just the regular stuff. Our store is very limited in what it can carry. :(

I'll pass on the cottage cheese and breakfast bars, I don't really care for them, but thanks for the suggestions.

Anyone else have some suggestions, I am going shopping in the morning.

Tiggerlover make sure the box says "Go Lean CRUNCH" or you'll think you are eating cardboard!!!!! Go lean Crunch has a cinnamon flavor to it.

Also I was never a big cottage cheese fan either, but when I learned to mix it with yogurt it actually became much more palatable for me.

I hate oatmeal, can't stand the smell, taste or texture. It makes me gag BUT I will make it in the microwave for my kiddos. (Well, I used to, they can make their own, now! ;)

In a microwaveable bowl, I use .25 c Quaker Oats (or the no-name stuff DH buys), add .5 c water (not boiling!), nuke it for a minute 10 seconds, add milk, sugar and voila. They are happy and I'm not ill! :p

Oh, and my kids don't normally like the instant because they are just tooooooo sweet. HTH!

Maybe they have some menu ideas on the WW web site.

I just wanted to say you can do it.

God bless, best wishes, and encouragement, RaySharpton:)

How I make oatmeal -

I pretty much follow the directions on the box (I like the Old Fashioned Quaker Oats better than the Quick for some reason). For the liquid, I use 1/2 water and 1/2 skim milk because I like the creaminess the milk gives but I don't want the extra calories of using all milk. I add 1 T. brown sugar (more or less to taste), about a teaspoon of cinnamon. Bring to a boil and then add your oats. Cook until tender but not too thick (remember it will thicken upon standing and you don't want it gummy). I then add 1 T. chopped walnuts or sometimes I add raisins or dried cranberries if I don't have walnuts. I usually don't have to add any extra milk to it.

Hope that helps! There are a lot of different recipes out there. I have one somewhere for the microwave with crushed pineapple that is pretty good. Let me know if you're interested and I'll post it.

are usually:

2/3 c raisin bran with 1/2 c milk, preferably vanilla soy milk
sometimes topped with sliced strawberries

low pt english muffin or 1/2 bagel with FF cream cheese

ham and FF cream cheese roll-up (good with flavored cream cheese, you could probably flavor on your own?)

Vanilla Light-n-Fit yogurt with berries (fresh or frozen)

Egg beaters omelet with any veggies (onion, mushrooms, broccoli) and low pt toast

blueberry muffin (see WW recipe thread)

Hey, Deb!
I don't have anything to add to the suggestions above (I am a cereal or pb on toast kind of girl) but I did just pick up some of the Kasha Go Lean Crunch at the grocery store. Can food products be mailed internationally? If so, let me know and I will send you a box.

Ray, can anyone use the WW web site or just paying members?

Nicole, thanks for the oatmeal tips, I will have to try it out again. It will have to wait, I bought the nuts and the brown sugar and silly me forgot the oats!!

My shopping trip was a bust, I couldn't find the Kashi Go Lean Crunch, they only had regular Kashi. And the one point muffins were non-existent. I did find some wheat english muffins for two points so they will have to do.

OhMom, the ham roll up sounds good, I will have to try that. How many points are they?

Oh Terry, if you could send me some I would be happy to pay you! You are so sweet.

Thanks so much for you help gang, I knew I could count on you all!

it depends on the ham and cream cheese, sorry I just usually do a quick figuring with the ham but I think it's around 2 pts for ham and 1 pt for cream cheese.

One slice of ham is 3 points and the cream cheese is 1:

Careful points can sneak up.

How about making a fruit salad? I like the Eggo waffles too! I top mine with vanilla yogurt mixed with fruit. I also make breakfast tortillas sometimes ... I make an omlette with 1 egg and 1 egg white, vegetables (onions, peppers etc), 1 slice low fat cheese and top it off with salsa.

Thanks Nicole, I made this just a little while ago and it is really yummy. The only difference is I added a package of Equal. Thanks again!

Great!! I'm glad you liked it.

:D Sounds pretty good to me right now too!
