I went to www.loewshotels.com today to book a standard view room for 8/31/06 - 9/3/06. The regular price is over $260 a night but the AAA rate is is only $159.
After I enter all the info I get a (pid10) message saying it's not available.

Anybody know of any other websites I might be able to book this or am I just too late?

Bill

Go to AAA website and book it there. I had to do the same thing, showed none available. Some are apparently set aside for AAA thru their website.

This happened to me and I called the hotel directly and made my reservation using AAA and had no problem.

I was totally freaking out :badpc: when I went to book the hotel because I had just finished making our non-refundable flight reservations and then the hotel was coming up unavailable. But everything turned out just fine :thumbsup2

Good luck!

OK thanks for the great advice. I have to wait about 7-10 before I book it if I go through the AAA as I just bought a membership today and don't have the actual card yet.

Your replies make me feel better, that's for sure. The rack rate went up about $60.00 since last week but the AAA rate is still the same as it was last week. I hope it stays that way until I get the card.

Thanks again
Bill

Did you join AAA online? If you did, check your email because your number might be included. That's when I got ours and I was able to book right away.

I went to one of their offices. They gave me a piece of paper with the receipt and said this is your temporary id until you get the card.
When I go to www.aaa.com/universal it asks for my 16 digit AAA card #.
The temp # they gave me only has 12 digits???

More confused than ever but I'm always in a state of confusion to some extent. :thumbsup2

Bill,

You can book your room without having your AAA card number. You just need to make sure you have it with you when you checkin in case they ask to see it.

$159/night is a great rate using AAA.

Why not make the reservation now so that you will be guaranteed a room at a great price. :woohoo:

When you call to make the reservation you are not asked for your card #

1 800 232-7827 Just ask for the AAA rates.

well after all that we wound up getting a great rate using the "fan club" discount and we wound up at the Hard Rock instead of the Royal Pacific.

Thanks for all your advice :) :thumbsup2

Do tell, Bill. What is the great rate? And for what dates and room type?

Haven't heard of that discount being used in a while. Details please!!!

Inquiring minds want to know. What is the fan club?

The family we are going with got some card from the HR dept at work. That's all I know about the card. She booked us both.

Even though you say it's the "fan club" rate, those rates are about equal to the stay-play-and eat free promotion, except you don't have a child between the ages of 3-9 so you would buy your tickets. Even then, the price is only about $50 difference. Your friend may have a "fan club" card, but those don't seem to be "fan club" room rates.

By my calculations that is about $220 per night including tax. Better than the $260 no doubt, but not as good as the $159 AAA you were quoted.

$977-$318=$659

$318 is the present cost of buying 3 adult tickets with the online special--including tax.

$659/3=$219.66.

Oh, just remembered that the prices quoted in your original post were for RPR and you actually booked HRH. That would make it a bit more expensive, but not sure that much more for a standard room.

to get the fan club rate at the hotels, you enter FAN in the box.
i have had the fan club card since the mid 1993.
first i received it from my husband's employer. a business can receive it and use it as a perk for their employees.

the fan club card is free, no charge for it but you have to qualify to receive it as it comes from your company you work for.

you get discounts at universal hollywood and orlando, car rentals, busch, sea world, tickets, hotels.

the AAA and AP discounts are better though.
when my husband's company stopped the agreement with universal, i was able to get the new fan club card through make a wish foundation.

also, members of the mouse for less board can receive the hollywood universal fan club card which they say is valid for orlando.

my card lists as universal orlando only.

you can view what you are eligible for through the fan club website.
enter your membership number to view it.

i did check out the packages and hotels on that site before i booked this year. it didn't have what i wanted, better prices with aaa for me.

The Hard Rock with AAA discount is $201.52 per night for the garden view. Times that by 3 nights is $604.56. Cost of tix for is $318.00.
total cost $922.56. So I did wind up paying more with the Fan card by about $50.00+. Oh well. :confused3

Bill

Bill, if that $201.52 is before tax, you saved a bit. There is an 11.5% tax added each night. With tax, the $201.52 goes up to about $225. For a grand total of $993 for 3 nights and tickets.

The price was $183.20 per night before taxes. I calculated at 11% so I'm off a little. So the price at 11.5% is $210.68 per night.
