Hi DS (6) and DD (2) what would be the more entertaining place to have dinner?
Thanks
Chris

Boma definitely as it is buffet and has loads to choose from :)

Claire ;)

Boma would definitely be the better choice for a two-year-old, but Jiko, IMO, has better food.

I think Boma is a better choice with the kids....
However....
How about....Jiko for 2 and the kids go to
Simbas cubhouse:thumbsup2

We've eaten at Boma several times and finally tried Jiko on our last trip. Sadly, I did not care for Jiko, but Boma is one of my favorites. AKL offers a tour of Jiko and Boma every afternoon. I was talking with one of the chefs at Jiko about the differences between the two restaurants and she told me that Jiko is more French-African influened while Boma is more traditional African food.

As for kids, we ate at Jiko with our 2.5 yo DD. She is used to eating out and was well behaved during the meal. There were many other children eating there, so I think it really depends on your kids. Your 6 yo could go to Simba's clubhouse, but your 2 yo is too young (I think they have to be 4). I wouldn't call either restaurant entertaining, but Boma is a loud, open kitchen environment, so noise is less of an issue.

Your right....jeez...I missed that...
You have to be 4 and potty trained to go to kids clubs:flower3:

You mean I could leave the wife and DD at Simba's and DS and I enjoy ourselves?

Since your only criteria is that you want "entertaining", I would choose Boma. Neither is really entertaining, however there is more hustle and bustle at Boma, and the kids can get up and choose their own food. Both Boma and Jiko have good food, but Jiko takes the nod for best food and service between the two.

Another vote for Boma, with the Kids. Jike has outstanding food, the kids just may have a difficult time findind something to eat. :)

Enjoy!

Jiko is definitely more "fine dining" than Boma - the meal will be more subdued and take a lot longer. With small children, I'd choose Boma in a heartbeat over Jiko. There's a greater variety of food to choose from at Boma (especially good if someone doesn't like their first choice - they can just go up to the buffet for something else), there's more bustle and things to look at, and it's definitely cheaper. Save that first experience at Jiko for a time when the adults can get away and try it first - you'll also feel more pampered to enjoy the fine meal without the kids. :)

Our 2 year old loved Boma. Jiko looked a little to upscale to take the baby. I was just afraid the choices of dinner for him would have been to limited. The Boma buffet offers alot of things for kids. My son loved the peanut butter rice, the chicken, and the fruit tarts.:thumbsup2
