I have 7 girls--ages 6-7--coming over to our house tomorrow for my DD7 birthday. The weather looks like it's going to be awful--to the point where I won't even be able to use our screened porch and the picnic table. Our house is not very big; we were hoping some time could be spent playing run the bases outside, exploring the playhouse etc. . . :umbrella: :umbrella:

I have a few craft projects planned, and i know they will be pretty happy just running around and enjoying each other (I see some dress-up in our future!), but does anyone have any easy, last-minute fabulous ideas for occupying a little time? I think I can swing a round of musical chairs. With my DDs, there will be 9 kids total. :bitelip:

I'm going to start putting all the items (including some furniture!) I can down in the basement so we just have some more manuever room, but any suggestions are Greatly Appreciated!

(It's roughly a princess theme, but we're not tied only to that!) princess:

Thanks!

My DD's birthday party was rained out this year too. It was supposed to be at a local playground. So we did the best we could, and everyone still had a good time.

The hardest part was the pinata. We didn't have a good place to hang it inside, so when the rain let up, we put it in the driveway and kicked it until it sprung a leak. It was really enjoyable!

Anyway, what do you think about having the kids bring their raincoats and boots and letting them have a little fun in the rain? Do you think the other parents would appreciate that?

I am sure it will all turn out well. Hope you have a good time.

I worked at a summer camp and it rained for a week, we ran out of indoor stuff so we needed to do outdoor things even if it rained.... one day we had a rain party. this worked because it was warm so it might no work for you...

I went to the discount store and bought ponchos and flip flops for my group ( it cost me like 10 for the group. I told the parents to have them wear play clothes and bring in warm Pj's . we out on the poncho, flip flops and we went outside in the rain and had a water race, swam, painted in the rain on t shirts, and just had fun. After about 2 hours of being in the rain, we came in and changed into our dry pj's and watched a movie and drank hot cocoa and warm brownies.. it was one of the best days of the summer. The kids loved it since they usually are not allowed to play in the rain......

write a name on a piece of paper (example George Bush) and tape it to one girl's back. The others give her hints of who she is and she has to guess. Doesn't take up space and guaranteed to get them giggling.

Would they be into makeup and hair dos? With ribbons, bows, barrettes, etc?

do a round of "telephone" - kids love that game. you might also want to get little pumpkins for them to decorate - and how 'bout bobbing for apples?

I feel your pain. My son's party was rained out too. I also live in the suburbs of Phila.

We took the kids bowling. Since I had cake and stuff already we just bowled and came home to do cake and presents. It only cost me $50 for 11 kids - shoe rental and 2 games each (I did have a coupon though).

good luck!
