Help -- Ariels Breakfast or lunch/dinner?

I don't know what to do. I am going to DLR for my 40th birthday in September with a group of 7 other women in their 50's & 60's. I want to go to a character meal for my birthday "party." (hey, these things are for children of ALL ages!!!:) ) I had planned on Celebration Roundup BBQ, but since they took the characters away I canceled that. Since I AM a princess, I am now thinking Ariel's.

The question -- breakfast or lunch/dinner. I have never eaten there, so have no idea what the food's like & I can't seem to find a breakfast menu. I thought I had settled on first lunch seating, then the birthday party at the Plaza Inn at 4:15pm. However, I found out today that because I will be off season the Plaza party is only at 2pm. I think 11:30 lunch & 2:00 cake party are too close together. SO, should I do breakfast at Ariel's & 2:00 cake party or 2:00 cake party & dinner at Ariel's? :confused3

Any thoughts/ideas/opinions are greatly appreciated!

Krista :)

Go to allears.net for menus. I haven't done Ariels yet, but I hear the lunch/dinner menu is very good.

I checked allears, there is no breakfast menu. Has anyone had experience with breakfast at Ariel's?? Do you recommend it??

Thanks!

Krista:)

I have done breakfast at Ariel's and thought the food was alright (nothing to write home about). This was about 1 1/2 years ago, so things might be different now. There was a 3 layered tray with breakfast breads, cheeses and meats. Then they brought you scrambled eggs, country potatoes, and bacon. It's served family style. The potatoes and bacon were yummy, but the eggs didn't taste fresh, more like powdered eggs.

We did have the first seating of the day so we were able to see all the main princesses (Ariel, Cindy, Aurora, Snow White and Belle).

I want to do a meal at Ariel's for my b-day too!! But I am going in Oct.

we had lunch at Ariels and I loved it. Food was great and DD (and DS for that matter too) loved the princess interaction.
However, for your group, have you cocindered Minnis for breakfast or Goofys for any meal? I would think (although I have not been to eitehr) they may have more of the energy and "party" feel to them. The princesses are very formal, regal and quiet. They will all wish you happy birthday and chat with you. The character at teh other meal are more playful. So, it may depend what type of interaction you are looking for.

So, now your question of timing. I would do Minnies or Goofys and skip the birthday celebration as you can make your meal more "party" like. However, if you are set on the celebration, I would do breakfast and then celebration (for no reason of order, just sounds good)

I don't suggest doing GK for your bday meal, it was a sad disappointment for our family. There seemed to be no characters there at all. The high point of that meal was Snow White remembering seeing us the day before in the Animation Bldg in DCA. :) And Chip played with the girls a little bit but that was it. :(
Ariel's Grotto is better for lunch or dinner IMO. The food is better for the lunch or dinner meals. That said, the breakfast we had was good, it wasn't anything special tho so that's why I say lunch or dinner. I think I'd do lunch at AG and make a PS for Carnation Cafe and go there after lunch for a Matterhorn Sundae!!! :) Or go to PPH and have a Kitchen Sink sundae there. :)
For breakfast our fave is Minnie & Friends, tons of characters and the food was really good there.

For us, the AG breakfast is just like anything you would find at any pancake house or even McDonald's in the form of scrambled eggs and sausage. But the newer menu for lunch and dinner was awesome. DH says it was his favorite meal of our last trip. And we did all of the character meals, Blue Bayou twice, Cafe Orleans and Wine Country Tratoria to give you an idea of a comparison. Keep your first lunch seating. You will not be dissapointed!!!

Thanks for the replies! Looks like I will be looking at skipping the cake party or doing dinner at Ariel's.

And thanks Belle Ella for the menu link!! I swear, I looked for it! Maybe I need glasses (I am getting old...) ;)

:thumbsup2 Your welcome! Sometimes you get lucky and sometimes you don't when it comes to doing searches. I could never find it the first time I looked, lol.

If doing both is what you have your heart set on you'll figure it out, I'm sure. It sounds like there would be plenty of time to do both however, for breakfast or dinner at AG. During the off season though you may want to factor in park times into your decision since they open later and close earlier, and how much else you would like to get done that day. :confused3
